Who the course is intended for (prior knowledge expressed using Common European Framework Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels)
This course is aimed at students who have completed the Lower Intermediate Croatian course. Otherwise a placement test will be required.

Teaching will use the communicative approach. Lectures will enable students to acquire communicative, grammatical and cultural competences. Their topics will be presented through contemporary authentic texts. The Upper Intermediate level includes the understanding of topics (listening, reading), the enrichment of vocabulary (phraseology, lexemes, collocations), speaking acts in different situations, repeating and learning of new grammatical forms and the acquiring of cultural competences about Croatian culture (Croatian literacy; real and virtual life; human rights and globalisation; libraries and reading; health; friendship, love relationships and family; education; money, jobs and saving; consumerism; movies and music; climate and environment; leisure). The cultural topics are an integral part of language lessons. Students will be provided with a pack with the required class materials (texts, exercises, grammar summary, etc.) based on the textbook and activity book. Assessment with information on dates if available
Optional test in TCD. On successful completion of the test the Department will issue students with a certificate of attendance.
