Lean Solution for intelligent Motor Control Center High system availability thanks to more data transparency The requirements placed on the communication functions of plants are constantly increasing. More and more information needs to be recorded and processed in order toachieve a high level of reliability and availability with reduced wiring costs. Using the concept of the SmartWire-DT communication system in the motor control center
(MCC) it is now possible to record information from the MCC drawer units simply and inexpensively and transfer this to the higher-level PLC. Thanks to the use of intelligent SmartWire-DT switchgear, this not only consists of digital signals for switching or monitoring of positions or overload information. Analog values such as the actual current or
the condition of a trip unit can be determined and evaluated. The data is transferred via standard fieldbus protocols to the controller. This firstly requires possible faults to be detected in advance in order to make timely interventions and eliminate the control wiring of the switchgear in the drawer unit.
Flexible in communication and time-saving in assembly For data exchange with the PLC there are a variety of Gateways available. This approach provide a high level of flexibility for communication with the controller. Features • Connection of up to 99 SWD slaves (with up to 1000 bytes of data) • Automatic addressing of the slaves on module exchange • Simple testing of the module without PLC with SWD Assist software • Simple expandability
High availability with intelligent switchgear The comprehensive data supplied by the PKE motor protection switch via SmartWire-DT enables energy consumption to be optimized and diagnostics to be carried out effectively so that faults can be rectified faster. The drawer units thus transfer essential detailed information to the higher-level controller so that operators can significantly increase the reliability and availability of their motors. Features High availability through overload prewarning functions • Extended diagnostics (short-circuit, overload, phase loss) • Actual motor current • Status of the overload release (thermal motor image) •
Simple mounting with SWD-Link The SWD-Link consisting of power supply module and cable adapter is the electrical and mechanical interface between the cable connection compartment and the MCC drawer unit. The benefit of this solution is the fact that this interface is identical for all MCC drawer units which can be tested in advance and thus reduce a time and cost intensive troubleshooting in the field. Furthermore the SmartWire-DT solution allows exchanging the drawer in operation without any effect on the communication. 1. SWD4-FFR-PF1-1 power supply module Connection to the central SmartWire-DT network between gateway and the drawer units • SmartWire-DT gateway to the drawer unit • Power supply •
2. SWD4-FFR-ST1-1 cable adapter Connection to central SmartWire-DT network via plug-in connection • Connection to the local SmartWire-DT network inside the drawer unit •
