Discussion M e g a c o e lu m b e c k e r i is a European species. In ex-Yugoslavia it has been recorded in: Slovenia (G ogala & M oder , 1960; G ogala & G ogala , 1986); Croatia (N ovak & W agner , 1951; F urlan & G ogala , 1995); M acedonia (W agner , 1960) and, on the Balkan Peninsula, also in Bulgaria and Greece (J osifov , 1986). This is the first record of M . b e c k e i i in Yugoslavia. The species occurs on deciduous trees. In the locality of Lipovačka Suma it was collected on Q u e r c u s c e i r i s . T h e specim ens of the species O r t h o t y l u s ( O r t h o t y l u s ) p r a s i n u s are recorded for the fauna of Serbia for the first time. They w ere collected at R itopek, in deciduous shrub, field hedges. In ex-Yugoslavia the species was noted only at a small num ber of sites. A ccordin g to lite ra tu re d a ta it was re c o rd e d in Slovenia at two sites (G ogala & G ogala , 1986), at one site in Bosnia and H erzegovina (A pfelbeck, 1891), and at B ar in M ontenegro (H orvath , 1918). E u ro p ean species. A ccording to existing records, the species P h y t o c o r i s ( P h y t o c o r i s ) p o p u l i has been caught on deciduous trees, mostly on S a l i x sp. and P o p u l u s sp. T he specim ens we col lected at Boljevci: Crni Lug w ere found on F r a x i n u s a n g u s t i f o l i a . E uro m ed iterran ean species. In th e B alkans, it has so far been n o ted in G reece and B ulgaria (Josifov , 1986), a n d in ex -Y u go slav ia in S lo v en ia (G ogala & M o d e r , 1960; G ogala & G ogala , 1986), in C roatia only at Fužine (H orvath , 1900). The species P s a l l u s ( A p o c r e m n u s ) a n c o r i f e r has so far been known from Dalmatia (N ovak & W ag ner , 1951; B alarin , 1975), H erzegovina (S ienkiewicz , 1964) and M acedonia (K ormilev , 1936). On the Balkan Peninsula the species has also been found in Bulgaria and G reece (J osifov , 1986). The first record of P . a n c o r i f e r for Serbia, as well as for Yugoslavia, was made on Mt. Kosmaj. A north-Mediterranean species. T he species P s a l l u s a s s i m i l i s is a E u ro p ean species. In Yugoslavia it was first reco rd ed on M t. Kosmaj. This is the first datum for its distribution in the Balkan peninsula. U p to n o w th e r e a re n o d a ta a b o u t th e d i s t r i b u tio n o f th is s p e c ie s in th e M ed iterran ean basin, and in the Balkans (Josifov , 1986). It is spread in E ngland and Finland (S tichel, 1956-1958), and also in H olland (collection D r. B. A ukem a). T h e species P s e u d o l o x o p s c o c c i n e a is a E u ro m ed iterran ean species. In the Balkan p e n in su la , it was fo u n d in B u lg a ria (J o sifo v , 1986); in C ro a tia , a single site in D alm atia: Sinj: Čitluk (N ovak & W agner , 1951); and we now have two records for Serbia: Boljevci: C rni Lug and M ala M oštanica. It inhabits the genus F r a x i n u s .

Conclusions It is com m on know ledge th at the habitats in the vicinity of large cities are continual ly u n d erg o in g changes, w hich lead to th e d isa p p e a ra n ce of som e species and th e appearan ce of other. A good exam ple for this is the neighbourhood of B elgrade, w here we found 15 new H e te ro p te ra species of the M iridae family (P rotič, 1997; 1998) d u r ing only the past th ree years. Since 1995, H e te ro p te ra have been continually collected in B elgrade and its vicinity. C ontinuous w ork in the field is another factor that enabled us to find such a great n um ber of bug species new to the fauna of Serbia. O ne of the six species identified, P s a l l u s a s s i m i l i s , is new for the H etero p tera fauna o f th e B a lk a n p e n in su la , w h e re a s fo u r o f th e m , M e g a c o e l u m b e c k e r i , O r t h o t y l u s ( O
