Re: [M20] How do you do that? ! Pdf goodness! I've read a bit of it today and this is exactly what I need. I never played much mage and the magic system was always a bit confusing and overwhelming. I don't know if one of my friends is every going to get his Mage20 campaign off the ground but if he does I will be printing this out to use more easily for me.

Interesting, too, that the defining characteristic of whether or not teleportation is vulgar is in whether or not someone could see the character disappear. Abundant shadows to disappear into: coincidental; break daylight but no one's around: vulgar without witnesses. Wasn't expecting that, for some reason. - jason

I would just +1 this if I could. Largely this explains how things work for people who like crunch, it's 143 pages. One might ask why one needs 143 pages of appendix for a book that clocks in at over 650 pages, but so be it. This is quite detailed and full of examples. This is sort of the culmination of all the Internet arguments about Mage, and that I'm happy for.

Sigh. While I applaud Onyx Path for giving Phil Brucato free reign to publish Mage as he always meant it to be, more and more it appears that the game I fell in love with was not the game he intended.

It's how to do that alright, but it's mostly from the dev's perspective which is...fae considering the game. Like...just happening to know the routes for the most efficient trip in ridiculously record time is totally something I could see an NWO Sherlock expy doing (because something similar is done in the show) but it's apparently not something that you let people with corr do.

To be absolutely clear, the section says: Originally Posted by How Do You DO That, Page 76

a mage cannot simply use Correspondence to teleport somewhere and then define it as a “coincidental” taxi that sprang up out of thin air. She could combine Correspondence and Mind in order to call a cab, or Entropy and Correspondence to catch a cab at just the right time, or deploy human resources in order to make someone fetch her a cab. (See the optional instrument Management and Human Resources in Mage 20, Chapter Ten, p. 595.) Simply using Correspondence 3 and defining it as a coincidental cab, however, is not gonna work.

The section is specific; it's addressing one particular thing. Doesn't touch on speedy navigation at all. - jason
