Maglev vertical wind turbine

The maglev technology lift the permanent magnet plate (Rotor) away from the generator's coil plate (Stator) while it rotate without mechanical friction. Then the generator will cut the magnetic lines of force to produce 3-phase AC electricity. The wind turbine will start to generate high efficiency electricity at a breeze (at 1 m/s wind speed) that this wind speed is much lower than needed by a turbine blade type of wind turbine (at 3 m/s wind speed)

A Magnetic Levitation Wind Turbine suffers none of the traditional turbines drawbacks. • Magnetic Levitation is a system that uses opposing “full-permanent" magnets instead of bearings for power transmission. This means there is no actual physical contact between moving parts, so there is no friction and nothing to wear out. Magnetic bearing and gear systems are finding there way into many technologies and wind turbines are an ideal application. • It creates a very low noise, virtually frictionless system needing little maintenance. Very importantly, the start-up wind speed is about 2mph, even the larger ones! No massive blades, means very little danger to birds and low turbulence. • A MagLev wind turbine can be mounted on virtually any flat surface due to its compact design. Unlike other types which must be pole mounted due to danger from blades. • Cost for cost, a MagLev wind turbine is less expensive to manufacture than the conventional large blade type and requires very little installation unlike its predecessor  The most reliable system of constant power is a combination of solar and wind so fewer batteries (if any) are needed for storage as when the sun is not shining the wind is normally blowing. • A frictionless MagLev turbine motor can spin up to 48,000 rpm in theory, though that would need a hurricane. Whereas the big bladed turbines would disintegrate in a puff of smoke at those speeds and require 'yaw' mechanical restraints to prevent exceeding certain speeds.

• Start to rotate at minimum 1 m/s of wind speed (not necessary producing electricity at this low speed) • No need high pole • No harm to bird life

Horizontal wind turbine

• Start to rotate at minimum 1.5 m/s of wind speed (due to opposing the wind direction) • Need high pole, because of the big blade diameter • Can harm bird life, because bird cannot see the blade movement

Vertical wind turbine

• No need extra device to direct the blades direction • Less parts, less maintenance

Horizontal wind turbine

• Since the blades are opposing the wind direction, it needs a tail construction to direct the blades position always facing the wind direction • More parts, more maintenance
