The Maintenance planner's primary purpose is to plan and schedule all maintenance activities for the equipment fleet in his area. This includes the development of detailed job plans, facilities compliance with OEM specifications, identifies best practices and complies with safety and environmental policies. Job planning results in improved performance and productivity of the department labor resources. The planner develops daily, weekly, and monthly schedules and develops detailed plans for overhauls and projects and uses a variety of software to complete daily activities such as MIMS and MS Office products and acts as the SPOC between maintenance and production supervision. The planner is responsible for maintaining detailed records of equipment and facility conditions and to manage a program of continual improvement and enhancement and attends daily planning meetings in his/her area of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Plans maintenance jobs including safety considerations, provide a detailed task list, estimated job duration, parts and materials procurement and a cost estimate. Refines PCR (planned component replacement) intervals, routine job plans and major project plans. Coordinate and communicate with production department supervision. Recommends action plans to address repetitive and catastrophic component failures. Compiles the field investigation reports and the failure analysis results to maintain records for the program performance evaluation. Calculates and monitors the work group KPI's (key performance indicators). Provides technical specifications for required parts and materials to assist in the procurement process. Compiles component and material performance information to justify the technical specs. Gathers and compiles information necessary to prepare one-year and five-year departmental cost and equipment forecasts. Reviews the work order backlog, planned work compliance reports and operation's plans to establish work priorities. Develops, publishes and distributes daily, weekly and monthly work schedules. Attends daily, weekly and monthly maintenance planning meetings. Reviews job plan feedback reports and prepares improvement summary documentation. Checks the accuracy of equipment and component records in the MIMS. Furnishes detailed documentation for planned work to be completed by outside contractors. Review Dispatch Operation performance graphs relevant to maintenance. Manage purchasing of operating consumables and parts. Advises the General Supervisor of any problems or issues and presents solutions after deliberation. Establish critical spare parts inventory for production equipment. Establishes APLs and swing components for production equipment. Create standard Work Orders with task check lists. Establish min-max quantities for parts stock inventory. Schedule all PM and planned job and follow up on schedule compliance by the shop. Ensure compliance of O.E.M. recommended maintenance items, frequencies and warranty requirements. Keep up to date the 30/60/90 day rolling cost forecasts spreadsheet for the department Limit DI purchase requisitions to emergency items. Initiate the requisitions and follow up on component rebuilds/exchanges/cores for both on-site and off-site. Stage the parts and components for planned/scheduled jobs. Assist shop foreman with parts requests. Write new direct charge Purchase requisitions as requested. Weekly update of schedules and forecasts of planned jobs. Review backlog and procure parts and plan/schedule the jobs.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Attend professional workshops with mining industry peers to determine best practices to enhance maintenance work processes at the mine. Improve Ellipse maintenance system skill. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of maintaining equipment in fixed plant applications. Knowledge and understanding of the Labor Agreement and safety policies. Must have strong mechanical skills and understanding of welding, fabrication, machining and equipment rebuild/repair. Must have good people skills and ability to effectively communicate to superiors and subordinates verbally and in writing. Knowledge of basic computer functions in Excel, Word, Ellipse, PowerPoint, MS Access and MS Outlook. Deductive reasoning skills. Knowledge of Root Cause Failure Analysis. Ability to navigate through complicated and detailed purchasing procedures and policies. Solid understanding of MSHA, safety, and environmental regulations as they relate to the area of work. Need skills in project management, predictive maintenance, equipment repair, and maintenance planning.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: English language fluency. Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY: The job requires training or instruction in the area of environmental Awareness. This job requires training or instruction in the area of Safety & Health awareness including the completion of the appropriate MSHA training.
