Management Information Systems (MIS), housed in the Operations and Information Management Department, is a fast growing major that teaches skills that lie at the interface between business functions and information technologies. These include highly sought after proficiencies that help identify technology improvements in business practices including accounting, finance, marketing, operations and everything in between, formulate creative solutions, manage teams that will implement solutions and understand business requirements with the perspective of technologies. To learn more, students can sign up for the course OPIM 2001: MIS in Business—A Hands-on Introduction (open only to Business freshmen and sophomores).

Real Estate and Urban Economic Studies
Faculty MIS faculty include leading researchers and experts with advanced degrees from MIT, Wharton, NYU Stern, Carnegie Mellon, University of Minnesota, and other top universities.
Scholarships MIS Majors receive scholarships from sources such as Accenture, Cigna, United Technologies, Travelers, and others.
Internships Paid MIS internships are available to students during the summers after their junior year (and some after their sophomore year as well). In addition, several on-campus paid student IT jobs are available during the semester.
Companies and Jobs UConn MIS majors are in strong demand and typically earn among the highest average starting salaries among all Business majors. Average salary: $62,395 Salaries up to: $80,000 Companies that recruit UConn MIS majors include major internationally famous companies like Accenture, Aetna, Cigna, Deloitte, EMC, ESPN, GE, IBM, KPMG, PwC, Travelers, United Technologies, United Healthcare, and others. Several companies have Information Technology (IT) Leadership Development programs for MIS majors. Such programs groom MIS majors to be future IT leaders of their companies.
