Melton City Council launches online library Melton City Council will launch award winning Australian online library app BorrowBox at Melton Library and Learning Hub on Saturday 23 April at 1pm. BorrowBox allows library members to browse and borrow best selling eBooks and eAudiobooks on their Apple or Android device. Actor, library performer and audiobook narrator Stig Wemyss will give a one hour performance at the launch. His interactive performances in libraries and schools around Australia have become renowned for their irreverence and fun. City of Melton Mayor, Cr Kathy Majdlik said that the app launch will give the whole community access to the Library’s resources. “This app makes it possible for everyone to enjoy books and audio wherever they are at any time of day. “Melton City Council is committed to giving the community the best possible access to all our services and this is yet another step in that direction.” The BorrowBox app is free and available from the App Store and Google Play or from a link on the Melton Libraries web page. Once logged in, Library members can access over 1000 eBooks and 470 eAudiobooks and borrow up to five items at a time for up to three weeks or more if loans are extended. You’ll find the best of Australian, New Zealand and international authors including Matthew Reilly, Di Morrissey, David Baldacci, Kate Morton, Jeffrey Archer, Jodi Picoult and Andy Griffiths and many others. The choice of local and international bestsellers grows constantly. Bring your e-device to the launch for assistance from staff.
