Mental Maths Number Relationships – Addition and Subtraction Count out 1, 2, 3, or 4 buttons (move from one pot to another) Counting up to 5, count back from 5 One more than… one less than Count five objects How many more do I need to make 5? If I take 3 away how many will there be left? Understand: more, less, the same Know number bonds to 5 (4+1=5) Know the inverse (5-1=4) Number bonds up to 10: 4+6=10, 10-6=4, 10-4=6
