I'll repeat for those that missed it the first time. There are some people that give their heart and soul to issues, doesn't mean they can't have character flaws.

.... just pointing out that we all have flaws. __________________ Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now Last edited by brian john; 03-06-2014 at 07:30 PM.

There is a difference between knowing a subject exceptionally well and being arrogant? How does he come across as arrogant anyways?

Remember they are my opinions, and mine only. I have only met the man once, and that was the impression he left on me. But since you asked.......it was the way he looked you over, the movement in his eyes when he spoke, and that "smile" of his looks fake as chit....and the way he uses his hands constantly.... I am not saying he is a bad guy, just my thoughts on the guy. I have been known to read a person wrong from time to time, call it a built in defense mechanism, if you will.....

I've never attended a formal class or ordered any of Mike Holt's books (the books are expensive); but I enjoy reading all the articles he writes and love the illustrations, which are also available on his website. I've also attended a few of his webinars. In my opinion he's a good guy and VERY knowledgeable. In my area Chuck Cossin does a really great NEC exam prep course and I've also taken his code update class.

Another person I've learned a lot from is Jim Phillips; I've attended classes he's taught and am a member of the arc flash forum.

For any VA, MD, DE, DC, PA, Eastern West VA guys( I have met all from these areas in his classes) I highly recommend Marty. I have no affiliation with him, but have respect for his knowledge and ability to get the subject matter across to the participants. http://www.mselectricaltraining.com Actually Marty is a Plans Examiner now. He is a great guy with lots of knowledge __________________ Anything Worth Doing .... Is Worth Doing Right

I've found his study materials and NEC resources to be very concise and informative, particularly the graphics he uses to illustrate various grounding and bonding issues.

I know one thing for sure not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but his work in teaching is the best. His CDs, graphics and the rest are the best bar none, none of the BS fluff that other teaching material is saturated in. I do know though he makes a lot of religious references to the point he sounds insane, (just my opinion), but the part that bugs me he tends to make off topic comments about women, such as a guy who "got owned by a female attorney" and such. Not sure why gender matters but I frequently see the theme of him being opinionated of woman in a male superior way.

However that aside his forum is gold, and his material should be the first go to for any apprentice. 03-06-2014, 07:32 PM

Well boys Tom Henry did work as a electrician during Walts begining construction back in 69 thur 71 But couldt bend pipe to save his life plus he screwed up more work out there then i can list in a post . Mike Holtz never saw the man on Disney or in construction as a electrician out at Disney . How do i know this i was there plus ive been on every large project since the begining . Tom books help me get my J Card and Masters passed first time around and hes been around longer the Mike Holts . As far as Mike the internet put him out there and blew away Toms fame over the years . But they both have it made just teaching the code and collecting the cash. Ya gotta give them that were still bending conduit . __________________ ONE TIME ONE LINE Last edited by piperunner; 03-06-2014 at 07:59 PM.
