Liz of Vic said... Michael, There is of course the thing now that Turnbull will try and keep this Judy as she won her seat by 1% only. The other one is that Turnbull might want to hang on as long as he can, do the SSM legislation on Friday and then he will still be prime minister over the holiday-period. Really we should not have to live with an illegal government, the citizenship must be decided, until it is, there is no sense in legislating. Really, do we want these people who have been lying to us from the time they filled in their nomination-form, let them go to a by-election first. If they are too stupid to find out their ancestry they should not be in Parliament. In the meantime I do not think we should have to pay their legal bill, as by now they should have established their legality, if they have not they must be penalised. Where is the G-G in all this? The focus in the whole dual citizenship farce so far, has been on those whose alleged "dual citizenship" was inherited through their parents or grandparents. What about those whose marriage to a foreign national, may have inadvertently conferred dual citizenship on them, via that marriage? Has any audit been done of that circumstance? For that matter, do same sex marriages or de-facto relationships have similar implications for any of our bed-hopping, morality-free political wallet-stuffers?
