Natasha Ward Trade in Services Advisor
Natasha Ward is the Trade in Services Advisor with the USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub project. Prior to joining SATH, Natasha was a consultant to the Geneva-based International Trade Centre, the Barbados Private Sector Trade Team and the Shridath Ramphal Centre for International Trade Law, Policy and Services of the University of the West Indies. She has also worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados. Natasha has had brief stints at World Trade Organization, World Trade Institute and the American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago. She holds a Master of International Law and Economics degree (summa cum laude) from the World Trade Institute in Berne and a Doctorate in International Relations from the University of the West Indies. Her research interests include trade in services, investment, regional integration issues as well as migration.
THE USAID SOUTHERN AFRICA TRADE HUB (SATH) PROJECT SEEKS TO INCREASE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS, INTRAREGIONAL TRADE AND FOOD SECURITY IN THE SOUTHERN AFRICA DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY (SADC) REGION. SATH WILL REALIZE THIS THROUGH SUPPORTING PROGRESS ON THE SADC REGIONAL INTEGRATION AGENDA AND INCREASING THE TRADE CAPACITY OF REGIONAL VALUE CHAINS IN SELECTED SECTORS.
Her most recent publication is “Mobilizing for Services Trade Liberalization: A Case Study of the Tourism Industry in Barbados.” She has also co-authored two papers with Pierre Sauvé - “Services and Investment in the EC-CARIFORUM EPA: Innovation in Rule Design and Implications for Africa” in The European Union’s Economic Partnership Agreements with Africa: New Panacea for Development? and “The EC-CARIFORUM Partnership Agreement: Assessing the Outcome on Services and Investment”.
