Lifestyle and Diet for Autoimmune Diseases What is an autoimmune disease? Autoimmune Diseases are conditions caused by an immune response against the body’s tissues. They develop when the immune system destroys normal body tissues. Sometimes the immune system will fail to recognize one or more of the body’s normal materials as what they are: normal. The body then creates autoantibodies – (antibodies attack its own cells, tissues, and organs). This causes inflammation and damage and leads to many different Autoimmune Disorders.
What Causes Autoimmune Diseases? The cause of an autoimmune disease is still unknown. Some theories scientist have stated Autoimmune Diseases are hereditary, environmental irritants, chemical irritants, or can stem from bacterial or viral sickness. Although unknown how it is caused, there are many ways to test for the disease. The sooner you catch the disease, the easier it is to treat. Always pay attention to your symptoms and the length of time you are experiencing them. The more information you can provide a physician the better.
