NOTICE OF VACANCY Vacancies Parish Council Vacancy for Co-option The vacancy for a councillor in the Renishaw ward of the parish was advertised for the statutory time but no election was called. The Parish Council now has the option to fill the vacancy by co-option. The Parish Council would be especially interested in someone with a connection to the community of Renishaw and Spinkhill. If anyone is interested please contact the Clerk by the end of March 2018.

Recent Devolution Deal Information A major consultation drive has been launched across the Sheffield City Region to ask all residents and businesses how the new powers the area will get under Devolution should be used. The Devolution Deal gives the region £1.3 billion to spend over the next 30 years. The Deal offers new powers and funding to improve infrastructure, transport, skills, housing and other drivers of business growth. To access these powers and this funding, some changes are required to local decision making structures. These include giving locally elected Leaders and a directly elected City Region Mayor new powers, drawn down from Government who will work closely with Local Authorities and business leaders. It is believed the Deal will enable the creation of 70,000 jobs and 6,000 new businesses and public meetings are being held across the region. The one closest to our District is as follows: • Public exhibition at: Chesterfield Market Hall (Unit 14), Market Place, Chesterfield on Friday 15 July between 9.30am - 4.00pm It is important that as many people as possible have their say on this Deal, so please go along to this exhibition and have your say, but if you are unable to attend, then you can make your views known online. The Parish staff have worked extremely hard to ensure these walkways are safe and pleasant for visitors and we hope that you will enjoy the efforts made. All applications are publically available on a weekly basis. District Councillors will have received prior notification of applications in their ward. Planning Applications can be viewed on-line http://www.ne-derbyshire.gov.uk/environment-planning/planning/developmentcontrol/ or by visiting the Council Offices, 2013 Mill Lane, Wingerworth, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S42 6NG The District Council has to meet targets for determining planning applications which are set by central government - between 8 and 12 weeks. Over 90% of decisions on applications are made by Officers. The remaining 10% are determined by the Planning Committee. 2 Derbyshire Council Council Derbyshire Council Council is responsible for minerals and waste planning throughout the county, apart from within the Peak District National Park or Derby city, both in terms of preparing plans and dealing with planning applications. DCC also deal with applications for its own development, such as development on school sites. 3 Eckington Parish Council Eckington Parish Council is a statutory consultee in the planning process. They can comment on an application but the principal authority makes the decision. A list of valid applications is received by the Clerk on a weekly basis from NEDDC, generally on Monday. Planning Applications is a standard item on the monthly Parish Council Agenda. The Role of the Individual All valid planning applications are available as outlined above. You will be notified automatically if you live in close proximity to an application site and a notice will be posted in the local area. If you wish to comment on an application, either to support or object, you can do so on-line or in writing. You can contact your District and/or Parish Councillor to discuss an application. You can come to a Parish Council meeting and raise a planning issue in Public Participation. If a decision is to be taken at NEDDC Planning Committee you can request to speak at the meeting. You will be allowed 3 minutes. Representations on Planning Applications carry more weight if they are based on planning grounds and are considered 'material'. Material considerations can include (but are not limited to): • Overlooking/loss of privacy • Loss of light or overshadowing • Highway safety • Parking • Traffic • Noise • Effect on listed building and conservation area • Layout and density of building • Design, appearance and materials • Government policy • Disabled persons' access • Proposals in the Development Plan • Previous planning decisions (including appeal decisions) • Nature conservation However, issues such as loss of view, or negative effect on the value of properties are not material considerations.
