All Questions Question: why the voltage across the capacitor greater than applied voltage..like in fan capicitor rated at 440V but applied voltage is 230V? By: Harish Date: 2012-08-29 Answer: Although this question does not pertain to our course directly, still we would try to answer this question. The voltage rating of the fan capacitors can have some pre-specified values only and these values are given in appropriate Indian Standards. One such standard is IS : 1709 - 1984. Any capacitor manufacturer would alsways follow this standard and the capacitors are manufactured according to the specifications mentioned in this (and may be other related) standards. By: Dr. B. [email protected] Date: 2013-03-15 Question: multiples of 11, and does this factor have any influence on the hvdc converters performance if we go for other than the turns ratio which is not a multiple of 11 By: Balaji M By: balaji Date: 2012-09-07 Answer: No, not at all. The HVDC converter performance does not depend on the turns ratio of the converter transformer. Disclaimer: We will take every effort to answer your question. However, in case of delay or no response NPTEL claims no responsibility. By: Dr. B. Das Email:
