PASTOR’S MESSAGE

33

Dear brothers and sisters Today our Lord tells us that in order to take part at the wedding feast, which is His Kingdom, it is necessary to wear the proper wedding garment. He says: The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son. And during this feast one was found without the wedding garment: he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment… My friend, how is it that you came in here without a wedding garment? Saint Augustine says that this wedding garment represents the virtue of Charity that everyone in the feast should be wearing: it is charity that represents the nuptial robe. So, you who haven't yet done so, put on your wedding garment. You have already entered the banqueting hall, you are about to approach the Lord's table, but as yet you do not have a wedding garment in the bridegroom's honor: you are still looking for your own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. The wedding garment is worn in honor of the nuptial union, that is to say, of the Bridegroom and the Bride. The Bridegroom, you know: he is Jesus Christ; the Bride: she is the Church (Eph 5:32). Show respect to the one who is wed and also to him who weds her. The wedding garment is a life of faith "filled with good deeds." We receive our wedding garment when we are “baptized into Christ and clothed with Christ,” (Gal. 3:27) or as the Catechism of the Catholic Church explains, “Having become a child of God clothed with the wedding garment.”(1244) How God clothes us with Christ, and Pope Benedict XVI explains: “He gives us His garments and these are not something external. It means that we enter into communion with Him, that His being and our being merge, penetrate one another. ‘It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me’ (Gal.2:20). Christ has put on our clothes: the pain and joy of being a man, hunger, thirst, weariness, our hopes and disappointments, our fear of death, all our apprehensions until death. And He has given to us His ‘garments’. Baptism an ‘exchange of clothing’ is given, an exchanged destination, a new communion with Christ.” Let us clothe ourselves with the garment of Love. That is to say, let us fill our hands with good works, with the fruits of a virtuous life in the eyes of the Lord. Have a blessed week. In Christ and Mary

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd The Prepared Environment/The Atrium The atrium is one of the elements that helps the relationship between God and the child to flourish. After a theme has been presented, the child is free to choose an activity that will make possible the inner dialogue with the “Interior Teacher.” The atrium is a place of work which becomes a conversation with God. The atrium was the place in the early church where the catechumens were prepared. For the child, too, the atrium is a place of preparation for involvement in the larger worshiping community.
