Operating Costs ROSA calculates energy and power consumption using a default pump efficiency of 80%. If you wish to change the pump efficiency, please enter a desired pump efficiency in the "Configuration section". Energy consumption (specific energy) is given in units of kWh/kgal or kWh/m3 depending on the units you have chosen for ROSA projection. Power Consumption = Power required to pump the feed at a given pressure and flow rate = Feed Pressure * Feed Flow / Pump efficiency Specific Energy Consumption = Energy required to produce a unit amount of permeate = Power Consumption / Permeate Flow To calculate operating costs in ROSA, ROSA includes an Excel spreadsheet which allows you to compare the economics of two different membrane systems based upon their ROSA projections. Once you have clicked on "Perform Calculation" to complete the calculation, go to "Options" in ROSA menu --> Element Value Analysis --> Choose either "new" or "open" --> Choose either "Use column one" or "Use column two". If you are creating a new analysis, choose "new". Choose either "Use column one" or "two" if you want this projection to show up either on column one or two. The EVA spreadsheet has helpful hints to guide you through the analysis. The information on this screen is project specific and the only chemicals shown are those that have been selected within this project
