Model DAILM Door Access Intercom

Overview

Assemble Gate Control Unit (GCU) (not provided)

The Door Access Intercom (DAILM) controls up to two gate/door operators and other accessories. The DAILM is compatible with various Liftmaster Wireless Products.

Step 1: Remove GCU cover.

Step 2: Install 4 AA Alkaline batteries (not provided). (Lithium batteries recommended for colder environments.)

NOTE: If there is already an existing receiver proceed to Pre-Installed LiftMaster Receiver section. Set the Dipswitches on the Intercom to match the GCU number.

Step 1: Press the Learn button on the GCU until the LED lights. Release button.

Step 2: Within 20 seconds, press and hold the Learn button on the DAILM until the relay on the GCU clicks (about 10 seconds).

Install 4 AA Alkaline batteries (not provided). (Lithium batteries recommended for colder environments.) To set the DAILM as the “Primary” unit, Dipswitch #1 must be in the UP position.

The DAILM will beep and the GCU LED will flash 3 times to indicate programming is successful. 1

Indicator Light

Step 1: Pry open the front panel of the receiver case with a coin or a screwdriver.

Step 2: Set Dipswitch #1 to the UP position on the Intercom.

To clear Intercom memory, press and hold both buttons until a tone is heard (about 20 seconds). Step 1: Press and hold the Learn button on the DAILM until a beep is heard. Step 2: Within 20 seconds, press and hold both buttons on the intercom for 3 seconds. The LEDs will flash. Intercom will beep indicating programming is successful.

Step 3: Press and release the Learn button on the receiver. The Indicator Light will light for 30 seconds indicating that receiver is in Learn Mode. Step 4: Within 30 seconds, press and hold the Learn button on the Intercom for 10 seconds. Repeat Steps 2-4 for each remote, or control device that will be used to access the Liftmaster door or gate operator.

Telephone Interface Unit (OTIU)

Erase All Control Codes Press and hold the Learn button on the receiver until the Indicator Light turns off indicating that the receiver memory is clear (about 6 seconds).

Program Accessories Portable Intercom

To clear the memory on the OTIU, dial “**8” on the telephone connected to the OTIU. A beep will be heard. Step 1: On the phone connected to the OTIU, press “**07” after hearing the dial tone. Hang up and Learn LED will flash for 15 seconds. Step 2: Within 15 seconds, press and release the Learn button on the DAILM. The OTIU will ring the telephone and Caller ID will display “Unit Learned”.

To clear Intercom memory, press and hold Learn button until a beep is heard. Step 1: Press and hold the Learn button on the DAILM until a beep is heard. Step 2: Within 20 seconds, press and release the Learn button on the Intercom. Intercom will beep indicating programming is successful.

Installation The DAILM can be mounted by using the included screws or by using the double-sided mounting tape. It is recommended to use the mounting tape on surfaces such as metal or glass.

Mount DAILM with Screws Step 3: Peel paper from mounting tape. Firmly press intercom onto mounting surface.

Mount GCU

Step 1: Mount DAILM with small silver screws. Screw the top two screws halfway into the mounting surface. Place back of intercom over screws. Tighten screws.

Step 1: Replace GCU cover and mount near Gate/Door Operator control box. Step 2: Remove bottom panel of GCU. Connect the Relay Output of Receiver to the gate or door. To connect to a Door Strike or Magnetic Lock, see diagrams below.

Step 2: Put the remaining silver screws into the bottom holes of DAILM. Tighten screws.

Step 1: Clean back of intercom and mounting surface using the alcohol wipe.

Step 2: Peel off white paper from mounting tape. Firmly press mounting tape on back of intercom.

Additional Gate System

Programming Second DAILM

Two gate/door systems can be created by using two DAILMs (see diagram below).

Before beginning, ensure that there is a programmed single Door/Gate Access System. Programming Second DAILM to Primary DAILM Step 1: Put all Dipswitches to the DOWN position on the DAILM at Gate #2. Step 2: Press and hold the Learn button on the DAILM at Gate #1 until a beep is heard. Step 3: Within 20 seconds, press the Learn button on the DAILM at Gate #2. DAILM will beep twice. The DAILM at Gate #1 will beep for 20 seconds until it leaves Learn Mode. Programming Second GCU (for Second DAILM) Step 1: Remove a battery from the GCU at Gate/Door #1 (the one that has already been programmed). Step 2: Put batteries in GCU at Gate #2. Step 3: Put Dipswitch #1 in the UP position on the GCU at Gate #2. Step 4: Press and release the Learn button on the GCU at Gate/Door #2. LED will light. Step 5: Within 20 seconds, press and hold the Learn button on the DAILM at Gate/Door #1 until the relay on the GCU at Gate #2 clicks. Step 6: Put the battery back into the GCU at Gate/Door #1. The two Gates/Doors have now formed a network. The network can consist of either (or both) intercom's or the Telephone Interface Unit (OTIU).

The DAILM will send a signal to the intercom's or will ring the Telephone Interface Unit (OTIU) and will allow user to open that specific gate/door by pressing the Remote button on the intercom or by pressing “*9” on the telephone. If no signal is given from the DAILM, pressing the Remote button or “*9” will open Gate/Door #1.

Dipswitch Reference DAILM: Default setting is Dipswitch #1 is in UP (OFF) position. GCU: Default setting is all Dipswitches are in DOWN (OFF) position.

Operation

Secure DAILM Cover

When a visitor presses the Call button, intercom's will beep for 40 seconds. During this time the intercom's will only connect to the DAILM. Hold down the Talk button on the intercom to speak with visitor. Release the Talk button to hear the response. This creates a secure channel and the other intercom's in the network do not hear the conversation. To activate the GCU if while talking to a visitor, press the Remote button. To activate GCU #1 without a visitor pressing the Call button, hold the intercom’s Remote button for 10 seconds (not possible when multiple DAILMs, GAPLMs, or Keypads are being used).

Clear Memory DAILM: Set Dipswitch #1 to the DOWN position. Hold the Learn button until tone is heard. GCU: Hold down the Learn button until the LED blinks eight times total.
