With our world changing aspects of our lives everyday, the basic interactions we have with our world may vastly change by the year 2100. Cancer may only be common, our energy sources may be unlimited, even our thoughts on computers and robots may be revolutionized before 2100 even reaches us. The human race may never know what is in store for us in the future, the only challenge we have to overcome is creating the inventions or thinking of the new ideas. Our minds limit us to only what we are able to know; when we start to think outside of the box is when we will be able to travel through the stars or create space elevators. Some people willow and dread through the past, but not worry about the future. The future is what is next with the world. We can innovate and create as long as we do not swim in the past but instead race to the future. You cannot change what has already happened, but only we can control the future of humanity. The world of tomorrow is only as bright as the setting we put on its bulb.

Chapter 1: Future of the Computer (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Future+of+the+Computer)

Future of Humanity (/Future+of+Humanity)

The future of the computer is almost impossible to predict. Some people believe that computers will become obsolete. Desktop computers, laptops and handhelds may become obsolete, but these few types of computers are becoming obsolete even now in 2014! They may become even more obsolete in 2100 (http://www.npr.org/2011/11/29/142717081/physics-of-the-future-how-well-live-in-2100) . Computers are the future, they just will not look like the computers we own today look. People aren't going to carry around their computers; they will be in and/or on everything they own, such as, in glasses (http://www.google.com/glass/start/how-it-feels/) , contacts, and even tennis rackets. The possibilities of how the computer will be used are endless. Computers are already everywhere and in everything (http://www.democracynow.org/2011/4/13/dr_michio_kaku_on_physics_of) , we as the users just have to find and adjust to the endless possibilities of what they can do.

Chapter 2: Future of AI (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Future+of+AI) If one takes the time to really think about what all scientist will be able to do with artificial intelligence they will realize that the possibilities are endless. Scientist will soon be able to create a robot for any task that a regular human can not. We could send these robots into dangerous area where a war may be taking place or to deep in the ocean where man simply can not reach. Sadly there is also a downside to making all these robots. Some Scientist fear that mankind will become some dependent on these robots. Similar to how the world was in the movie Wall-E where everyone weighs 500 pounds are floating in chairs. Some even go to the extreme of saying that robots will rise up like in Terminator 4 and try to destroy all mankind. We haven't gotten that far yet but we do have some pretty cool robots on hand now. So far the most advanced robot that the general public knows about is Asimo (http://asimo.honda.com/) . Some other cool robots that some groups are working on now are STAIR (http://stair.stanford.edu/) , Nao (https://community.aldebaranrobotics.com/nao/) , and even a robotic dog called AIBO (http://www.aiboworld.com/) . Now, some things engineers and scientist are working on now as far a robotics goes are reverse creating robots with emotions and trying to reverse engineer the brain. Robots with emotions I believe will be awkward at first and somewhat frightening. Lets say an emotional robot gets angry they could go on a rampage and cause some serious destruction. The future of the AI could be bad or good. It all depends how we decide to advance in this field.

Chapter 3: Future of Medicine (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Future+of+Medicine) The future of medicine is bright, confusing, and in some ways very scary. Three of the main and most influential and controversial topics are Coexisting with Cancer, Staying Young, and Organ Printing. Medicine is the force that will either allows us to survive or cause us to become extinct. Coexisting with Cancer (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Future+of+Medicine#Future%20of%20Medicine-Coexisting%20with%20Cancer) is just what the name implies. We, in the next 100 years will not determine a cure for every single type of cancer. Cancer in itself is a disease of our genes. Cancer has many different forms and causes making it extremely hard to find a cure for so many types of a disease. We will have to slowly find cures for single types of cancer and then move on to the next form. This will be a painstakingly long process but hopefully within the next 100 years we will be taking the fight to cancer instead of cancer taking the fight to us. Staying Young (/Future+of+Medicine) is one of the most controversial topics in the future of medicine. Should we be able to change our life span and genetically alter our appearances so we never grow old? That is a question that will be debated long into the future and will be a cause of much pressure from the scientist that are developing these processes and the officials in charge of regulating the medical field. One major advancement that seems to be the most helpful development in the field of medicine is organ printing (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Future+of+Medicine#Future%20of%20Medicine-3D%20Organ%20Printing). This development has the potential to change the field of medicine forever. The bright side of this development is that people who are on the organ transport list would not have to wait years for an organ suited for their body to become available. The downside to this advancement is that it might promote unhealthy habits like smoking because people know that they can just get a new lung if they develop lung cancer. The future of medicine can be very good for us but at the same time it also might be the most detrimental to our survival. Therefore we must continually work together with our scientists and our governments to further the advancements to the medical field.

3D printers, in the future, will be able to take a material and morph it into a usable organSource: "3D printing." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, 22 Mar. 2014. Web. 23 Mar. 2014.

Chapter 4: Nanotechnology (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Nanotechnology) Nanotechnology (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Nanotechnology) will shape our world literally and figuratively. There are so many different things that nano-particles can do and change for humans the possibilities are endless. Nano-particles will be used in medicine, warfare, and our everyday lives. From creating smart pill to cure diseases before they become dangerous, to nano-weapons that can destroy entire buildings by eating away the materials that they are composed of, to changing the color of your wall by just pressing a button. Nanotechnology will be one of the most in demand technologies in the world in the near future. In the medical field (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Nanotechnology#Essential%20Themes-Nanomedicine) Nanotechnology will have a major impact. There are two advancements that are very important and in the process of being tested even today: the smart pill and nano-particles. The smart pill is a revolutionary advancement in the medical field today. This pill is used by doctors to take internal images of the patient allowing doctors to see and track diseases, cancer, or other health problems that are difficult to detect. The other nanotechnology that will be used in the future is nano-particles. These particles of nanobots will be injected into patients bodies to track, kill, and prevent diseases and illnesses. The use of these particles in hospitals is still far in the future but research is being done in these areas. In warfare Nanotechnology will cause countries to have to develop new methods of fighting or suffer the consequences of being deficient in the area of their armed forces. The new developments of things such as nano-bombs have the potential to ruin the world forever. The thing that is most unnerving about using nanobots in warfare is that in the wrong hands could be worse than a nuclear war. The potential for another Cold War type war or even WW III is very possible with the use of nanotechnology in warfare. There is a benefit to it though. nanotechnology could be used in the soldiers uniforms allowing them to be stronger, faster, and even more resilient. The future of nanotech in future wars could be lifesaving but also could be world ending. In everyday life the future of nanotech is bright. There are so many uses for this technology: from changing the color of your room, to being able to carry more, to being able to change objects into anything you like (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Nanotechnology#Essential%20ThemesShape%20Shifting). The fascinating thing about this technology is that it already exists. You can change things like the color of your car if it is painted with special paint by just changing the amount of electricity that is applied to the paint. With being able to make objects just out of nothing that is going to be a very useful tool. If you needed something and didn't have it you could just make it. This would save people time and effort making it quicker and easier to finish jobs.

Nanotechnology will revolutionize almost every aspect of our lives in the future.Source:"Molecular nanotechnology." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, 25 Mar. 2014. Web. 26 Mar. 2014.

Chapter 5: Future of Energy (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Future+of+Energy) The future of energy (/Future+of+Energy) is very broad, being that we get our energy from many different sources. From solar power to fossil fuels, the twentieth century has a smorgasbord of power providers. Fossil fuels like coal and oil are going to be depleted, that is inevitable; but these sources make up fifty-eight percent of our energy. What will create that fifty-eight percent when it is gone? Scientists are working to enhance our already invented systems like wind and solar power, but their efficiencies will most likely never be enough to sustain humanity. The more likely path to travel down is trying to find new means of creating power or inventing new systems of our sources today. Like space solar power (SSP) (http://www.nss.org/settlement/ssp/) , this idea is very simple: put solar panels on satellites and space stations, mainly because The best answer to creating energy in the future is nuclear fission and fusion (http://energyquest.ca.gov/story/chapter13.html) . The two opposites of extracting energy from atoms both have very energy profitable systems. Fission is when an atom of uranium is split in which creates a tremendous amount of energy. This kind of energy production has a downside though: it creates a nuclear by-product which is very dangerous if released into the earth. Workers have to conceal the radioactive material and store it until the radioactivity decreases enough so that it can be disposed. Fusion on the other hand is nature’s way of powering the galaxies. Fusion takes place when two kinds of hydrogen atoms are smashed/combined together which again, creates a large amount of energy. The fusion system, however, actually makes a commercially needed substance: helium. These two kinds of energy systems will power our world straight into the future, but these ideas will just be half of the future of energy. Room temperature superconductors will be the key to the age of magnetism. Superconductors are elements that can create an electrical current with a perfect efficiency. A superconductor vehicle or maglev (http://www.lanl.gov/orgs/mpa/stc/train.shtml) would be able to drive for amazing amounts of time with little energy because it is not making contact with any material so there is zero friction. This means all the energy we have wasted trying to overcome friction will be ideal of the past. Cars, bikes, trains, and planes will all be powered by magnetism and will all be only a sliver of energy usage instead of the entire pie. Our planet will undoubtedly run out of fossil fuels sooner or later (most likely sooner), and we will have to come up with a new source to supply our lust of power. New theories and ideas are going to arise and our lust will be fulfilled with a bountiful amount of electricity and power.

The Sun's natural way of making energy is by smashing atoms together to make huge explosions with immense energy.Source: "sun and fusion energy." sun and fusion energy. N.p., n.d. Web. 15 Mar. 2014.

Chapter 6: Future of Space Travel (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Future+of+Space+Travel) Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly to the moon? Do you want to explore our universe? As a child, did you dream of having a life on Mars? Space associations around the world are getting closer and closer. In 2100, these could all become weekend trips for the family. Not only will space travel become normal tourism, but space travel will become an important and growing business in the near future. There will be a multitude of jobs in space research, spaceship development, and space exploration. Even now we can see that space is becoming a new enterprise. For years, scientists have sent missions to Earth’s moon, rovers to Mars, and have begun projects that will soon become the future. Overall, space travel will be greatly integrated into daily life in 2100. Aliens. Martians. Extraterrestrials. No matter what you call them, they are all of the same grouping: life in space. This brings us to how, in the future, scientists are going to attempt to find life on other planets. This is not just alien life but any living organism. As most people know, even organism needs water to survive. That is why scientists are considering searching the planet Mars and Jupiter’s moon, Europa to see if there are sources of life. Mars (https://www.mars-one.com/) and Europa both have ice on them. Mars used to have liquid water oceans, until the temperature dropped low enough for the oceans to freeze. Scientists believe that their may be life in these frozen oceans and are planning to unfreeze these oceans in the distant future. Doing this may lead to something more. Also, Europa (http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/profile.cfm?Object=Jup_Europa) is full of ice. Scientists have discovered that their is a liquid ocean on Europa right now. This makes Europa a prime subject for future space missions. Picture this: You climb into an elevator. The operator pushes a button and the elevator slowly begins its ascent. This is no ordinary elevator. You soon see the earth getting smaller and smaller. You look outside the pod and see planets and distant stars. Where are you? You are slowing climbing the space elevator (http://www.space.com/24739-space-elevator-tether-technology.html) , a new advance in space tourism. This could be any Average Joe in 2100. The world of space tourism and space commercialization will be booming by 2100. Space stations will be popping up everywhere. We may begin to terraform Mars. Civilians will flock to the space elevator. Humans will be able to catch a flight to space. Companies, such as Virgin Atlantic, have started operations, like Virgin Galactic, that take people into space. We see this as something far off, but other companies will begin to do the same activities at Virgin Galactic.

Space elevators will be one of the first public means of traveling to space.Souce: "Why we'll probably never build a space elevator." io9. N.p., n.d. Web. 26 Mar. 2014.

Chapter 7: Future of Wealth (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Future+of+Wealth) In the future, people will have better means and chances of becoming rich and wealthy. Jobs (http://www.futurist.com/2013/04/16/top-10future-careers-in-2050-and-2100/) will require common sense and a good education (http://www.systemdynamics.org/conferences/1999/PAPERS/WSHOP4.PDF) . People will graduate college and then be able to apply for high-paying jobs. Technological sciences will be taught over other subjects and teachers will have to be retrained (http://www.insidehighered.com/blogs/gradhacker/reinventing-your-teaching-mid-semester) to be relevant to the technology. Teachers will not be teacher the same way they have for decades, but instead teach with new inventions and techniques. We will go from memorizing words and getting it all down on paper, to typing and pressing and even thinking our words onto a document. After graduating from school, there will be open jobs and young people will be able to get onto feet. The future will greatly depend on how well we educated the next generation on new technologies. There will be more open jobs involving science and creativity. Which relates to our education and how we think. This will contribute to the future of wealth.

Chapter 8: Future of Humanity (http://physicsofthefuture.wikispaces.com/Future+of+Humanity) Over time, physicists have created a rating system that shows how much energy different civilizations use. This system also shows the advancement of each civilization. The three main types of civilizations of this rating scale are Type I, Type II, and Type III. A Type I civilization is planetary. These civilizations use up the energy of their planet and the energy from the small amount of sun they get. That is why Type I civilizations are planetary. A Type II civilization is stellar. They use the energy that they consume from the stars around them. Type II civilizations are more advanced that Type I. A Type III civilization is galactic. They use all the energy that they can get from their galaxy. Type III civilizations are the most advanced of the three. What type of civilization is our civilization? Our civilization is a Type 0 civilization. Technically, our civilization is Type 0.7. This means that our civilization is not planetary yet, but that our civilization is nearing becoming planetary. Physicists have found that our civilization should become Type I in 100 years (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n-tTst-vyQ) . This means that we will achieve Type I status near 2100.

There are many signs that show how our civilization is nearing Type I. In Physics of the Future, Michio Kaku calls these “birth pangs” (http://bigthink.com/videos/the-birth-pangs-of-a-planetary-civilization) . Some of these birth pangs are inventions that show how advanced our civilization is already. One of these innovative inventions is the Internet. Humans use the Internet everyday. The Internet has changed much since it’s creation. Now, people can share information in seconds. In the future, once we have become Type I, we will have even more advanced forms of communication. Another birth pang is with how we use language. English and Chinese are the most used languages in the present. According to Internet World Statistics (http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats7.htm) , English and Chinese are used almost as much as every other language used on the Internet. With only two major languages right now, in the future our civilization will all use the same language. These are just some of the birth pangs that show how advanced our civilization already is and how close we are to becoming Type I. Humans are constantly attempting to unfold the secrets of the future. They keep searching for knowledge and finding more systems to categorize civilizations that we have no proof of their existence. Throughout this project, we have been trying to figure out the equation. We have been trying to answer the big question: What will the future hold? Science can only go so far in predicting the future, but our predictions are still those, predictions. They may be completely incorrect. We will still search for extraterrestrial intelligence through organizations such as SETI(Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence) (http://www.seti.org/) . We will still strive to find wisdom in a primal and savage world. Our civilization may never reach Type I status. Our civilization may even end before 2100, but only time will tell. Until then, humanity will keep changing and becoming more advanced. More and more predictions will be made until the end of time. Humanity is what ties everything together. Human nature is what influences how humans act. Humanity is just that, the entire collection of humans on Earth. Humans all have wisdom and the ability to change the future of humanity.

Predicted Impact You are to combine all of the themes to create a consolidated view of how the world will work in 2100.

Wealth

Today’s wealth is determined by if you graduated from school and your skills. In school today we memorize things that we may never use again in our lives but by the year 2100, that all may change. In 2100, our education will go from memorization and useless facts to learning skills and useful information. More jobs will be created and needed but most will require technology skills. People will graduate college and have a good career to start off their new independent lives. More jobs will be created but most will require technology skills so the teaching of technology will be quite important. This means that we will have more money and everyone will have an equal opportunity to succeed. As the way we are educated changes, so will the way we think. With more jobs created, more people will be able to get a job. In conclusion, wealth may increase.

Economic Economics is the social science that studies the behavior of individuals, groups, and organizations, when they manage or use scarce resources, which have alternative uses, to achieve desired ends. Saying the economy will be better in 2100 than it is now, everyone would be able to see out of their Google glasses or contacts, be able to take a pill everyday that will take any impurities out of their body and hop in their flying car and drive to the baseball game. Once you get to the ball game you wouldn’t have to worry about getting your wallet out to pay for the tickets, they would scan your wallet and get your credit card number and charge your card without having to take it out of your pocket. You would walk into the ball park and notice there were no screens, “how am I going to see the stats of the players?” When the game starts you notice the stats are in your glasses. This is just one example of what could be happening, obviously it isn't the only idea, because there are endless possibilities of what could happen.

Political What will happen to the world when the future becomes the present? With all the new technology that is being developed, what will become of the governments and political strength and stability? Will they collapse, or will they thrive? There is really no way to know, but what we do know is that things will have to change. Policies will have to be put into place to monitor the advancements and to keep things in control. Without new changes to governments there is major possibility that there could be another World War, Great Empire, or even Adolf Hitler.

Social Social. It is a word that humans use freely to describe others, explain events, and to overall speak about any kind of interactions. In the future, our world will have unlimited energy, floating cars, and space elevators... but what will that do to mankind? With so many advancements in so many fields, we are not aware of the effect that will take place with better technology. To restate what Spider Man’s uncle once said, “With great power comes great responsibility.” Humanity (/Future+of+Humanity) will have to deal with the new powers and abilities unleashed into our world in the future. How will humans interact in 2100? Will our civilization turn to holograms instead of real-life humans? All of these questions are topics that need to be addressed. We cannot dive into this future ahead of us without the knowledge of how we will react. If in one instant we obtained all of the new inventions that Physics of the Future speaks of, we would need to be prepared. Our preparation should be in more ways than one. With medicine and health (/Future+of+Medicine) care advancing everyday, our world could very well become “immortal.” Cancer will be gone and no plague can stop the human race from existing. If humans can live double their life expectancy in the future, then our population will be increased greatly. With the population much larger than before, food and resources will be depleted. The human race will have to find a way to supple much more people with the necessities they need to survive. Then, what would happen to dating in the future? When everyone looks like they are thirty years old, then will you be willing to date a person with a fifty year age difference? would medicine not only be able to keep you looking young, but being young also? What if you looked twenty-five, but your organs are sixty? these questions can only be answered individually because they are person to person preferences. Social interactions with technology has and always will affect society and how we work. We have to understand that technology does not control us and we can be who and what we want. Another valid question is how will the the Caveman principle (/Introduction+to+Physics+of+the+Future) change with more technology? In the present, humans seem to choose High Touch over High Tech. This means that humans prefer interactions with humans over interactions with technology. In the future, we will have a plethora of technological devices at our disposal. We will posses the ability to interact with people over technology anytime and anywhere. This means that humans may begin to choose High Tech over High Touch. This idea can be considered wonderful or terrifying. With humans not meeting with each other in person, how would meetings work? How would people find their companions? How would the world of education be affected? These questions prove one thing: Social life will be very different in the future.

Future of Wealth masoncBETT (http://www.wikispaces.com/user/view/masoncBETT) Mar 26, 2014

The future of wealth paper seems to be written neatly and correct, but it has literally none of the book's points and topic about the future of wealth. The paragraph should have at least SOME of the ideas that were portrayed in the future of wealth group/page. So if anybody wants to add or change some of it with me that would be fine.
