Abstract Power system operation in many electricity supply systems worldwide, has been experiencing dramatic changes due to the ongoing restructuring of the industry. The visible changes have been many, shifting of responsibilities, changes in the areas of influence, shift in the operating objectives and strategies, distribution of work, amongst others.
