PRODUCT SAFETY REVIEW TOPICS & MINUTES The following list outlines several possible Product Safety Review topics. The contents of list are not applicable to all products or at all reviews, especially during the early stages of a project. The list is intended to help generate ideas and assist the committee in performing consistent, thorough reviews. Product Information □ Product applications, design concepts, and testing. (Not a Design Review, just an overview to understand safety aspects) □ Conformance to regulatory Codes and Standards from a safety standpoint (Product, Environmental, etc) □ Brand identification per company guidelines □ Safety label compliance to ANSI Z535 as per company guidelines □ Required information and content per applicable product standards □ Placement, accuracy, and understandability of labels and name plates □ Permanence of marking, environmental requirements □ Device status indicators (ON/OFF) for clarity and non-ambiguity □ Product and package date coding for placement, legibility □ User interface from a safety perspective Risk Analyses with FMEA and Risk Assessments with FTA □ End use equipment applications, installations, testing □ Installation, maintenance, and replacement procedures □ Customer operation and use including handles and accessories □ Conformance to Company practices and standards □ Manufacturing processes from product safety focus □ Quality assurance systems and procedures from product safety focus □ Purchased product, component, or part manufacturing and quality systems □ In-process / product testing - personnel safety considerations □ Forseeable use and misuse □ Design and Process FMEAs □ Design and Process FTA's (If required)
