(In darkness, we hear the sounds of a violent storm. LIGHTS UP. A group of STORYTELLERS are huddled together around a fire. The storm frightens a LITTLE GIRL. The adults tell her a story in order to soothe her.) Mini musicals specifically designed for classroom study and presentation, featuring scenes and songs from the musical Once On This Island JR.

Once On This Island is a mythical folktale set in the French Antilles.

It tells the story of Ti Moune, a little girl who was orphaned in a terrible storm.

Taking shelter in a tall tree, she was found by an old peasant couple, Mama Euralie and Tonton Julian.
STORYTELLER 4:
While food and money were scarce, they took her in and raised her as their own.
STORYTELLER 1:
And it wasn’t long before Ti Moune grew from a small girl in a tree to a beautiful young woman.
