Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) Course ID: ECLDETFT Awarding Body : City & Guilds Duration: 12 Months (Phase 1 and Phase 2) Intakes: September QCF Level: 5 Credit Value: 120 Credits Minimum Entry Requirements:    

 

Candidates must be 19+. Candidates wishing to undertake the DET programme must be experienced or qualified in the subject area they wish to teach at the appropriate level. Candidates must have access to 100 hours of teaching/training practice. Additionally, due to the nature of both the theory and practical assessments which students need to achieve for the DET, candidates need good written and spoken English, i.e. the ability to read and interpret written tasks, and to write in an academic style. Candidates will also need to organise their work and supporting materials clearly and coherently. Learners also need a Subject Specific Mentor to support their studies and to carry out formal observations of their classes.

All candidates should demonstrate: 

Literacy and Numeracy level 2. (Overseas students should demonstrate IELTS 6.5 or higher)

Course Information: the qualification is suitable for those who work or want to work as teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector, i.e. further, adult and community education, work-based learning and the voluntary sector. The qualification is designed to enable candidates to:     

Adopt an integrated approach to the theory and practice of teaching. Reflect on their own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills, and areas for development. Identify principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation. Develop confidence, communication and interpersonal skills. Develop an awareness of their professional role and responsibilities.

Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Business (Business Management) (RQF) Course ID: ECLHNBM04-RQF Awarding Body: Pearson Duration: 24 Months Intakes: February and September RQF Level: 5 Credit Value: 240 Credits Minimum Entry Requirements: Applicants must be aged 18 and above. There are no defined entry requirements set by the Awarding Body. The College makes admission decisions based on students’ potential to complete the programme. Applicants would benefit most from this programme if they hold one or more of the following:   

A BTEC Level 3 qualification or other related level 3 equivalent qualification An Access to Higher Education Certificate received from an approved Further Education institution Related work experience

Mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in their work sector. Prospective Students will be interviewed to discuss their relevant experience in relation to the course they have applied for. English Language Requirements: Non-native English speakers and those students who have not had their final two years of schooling in English will need to demonstrate one of the following upon entry:    

Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B2 IELTS 5.5 (including 5.5 for reading and writing) PTE 51 Or equivalent

International students must fulfil the UKVI requirements by providing a valid SELT (Secured English Language Test). Course Information: The HND in Business (Business Management) course covers a broad range of business and management modules from information systems to market economics and financial decision making. This means that you will have a wealth of knowledge to take into your employment or to enable you to carry on and top up your HND to a degree at University. An HND in Business (Business Management) is a perfect introduction to working in financial services, business administration or a career in management. The HND programme is an equivalent to a 2nd year of a UK University Degree. This course leads to a recognised qualification which is accepted by several universities for direct entry into the final year of a Degree programme. Pearson BTEC Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership (QCF) Awarding Body : Pearson Duration: 12 Months Intakes: February and September QCF Level: 7 Credit Value: 120 Credits Minimum Entry Requirements: Applicants must be aged 19 and above. The Edexcel BTEC Level 7 Professional Qualification in Strategic Management and Leadership has been developed to aid those wishing to follow a short study programme that is relevant to their working situation or future employment. As such, entry requirements are flexible and seek to accommodate a wide range of students.  

A UK Bachelors degree from a recognised institution or equivalent or an HND qualification Applications from mature students may be accepted where relevant work experience is being undertaken, subject to an initial assessment

IELTS score of 6.5 or an equivalent, or demonstrate capability in English to a standard commensurate with this. Course Information: BTEC Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership (QCF) provides a specialist work-related programmes of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the management sector. This qualification offers an engaging programme for higher education and adult students who are clear about the area of management they wish to enter or progress within. The qualification also provides a suitable qualification for those wishing to change career or move into employment in management following a career break. Admission Process Empire College London does not accept any students under the age of 18

Empire College London runs 2 intakes per academic year: February & September. To secure a place, please apply as early as possible. Students who are applying from overseas and need to apply for Entry Clearance, we suggest that you apply at least 12 weeks before the semester start date. Overseas students must provide all the information listed on the application form, including evidence of their financial ability to pay for their tuition fees and living expenses in the UK. Step 1: Application Submission 

Copies of all academic documentation, including transcripts, certificates, etc. (a certified translation is required if documents are not in the English Language) Passport size photographs (you will be required to provide 2 photographs at the time of enrolment) Valid passport (Non-EU Students must send their Biometric Card or Visa Stamp) Recent proof of address such as: utility bill, bank statement etc. (It must be no more than three months old and show your name and current address) Evidence of your English Language proficiency (if applicable) Work experience letter/form (if applicable) Resume/Curriculum Vitae (if applicable)

International students must provide evidence of the Secured English Language Test approved by the Home Office UKVI. All students must read the Terms & Conditions on Application form before applying. Students are advised to familiarize themselves with relevant College policies . The applicant will be called for a Skype interview (for Overseas International Applications) / face to face interview (for in-country international and UK-EU Applications). As part of the assessment all students will also be called for an internal English Language test. Successful applicants will receive a Conditional or Unconditional Offer letter.

Step 3: Tuition Fees International Students Payment of the first year tuition fees for the chosen course (or as indicated in the conditional offer letter) can be in the form of a cheque/demand draft or bank transfer (payable to Empire College London Ltd) within 28 days from the date of the offer. Students are requested not to make any payment to the third party in their home country in respect of admin/tuition fees. ECL will not be held responsible if a student makes a payment to any third party. Admission will not be confirmed if the fee is not paid. Students are advised to familiarize themselves with the Refund Policy. Financial Support for UK/EU Students Depending on the student’s individual circumstances, they may be eligible for financial support. Student Finance England offers support towards tuition fees, living costs and childcare. For more details please visit Student Finance England website. Courses Available for Student Finance Support at Empire College London: (subject to course designation and student eligibility) 1. Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Business (Business Management) (RQF) 2. Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training Those Students’ with a disability may also apply for the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA). Step 4: Applying for Entry Clearance/VISA (International students only) Students should apply for Entry Clearance at least 12 weeks prior to the commencement date of their course. International Students requiring a Visa in order to study in the UK should apply for Entry Clearance using CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies); A CAS is not a document but a unique reference number issued by a Tier4 sponsor. The student will need to present the CAS Number to the British Embassy or High Commission in their home country to apply for Entry Clearance along with all required documentation and the required application form. Please visit the UKVI Website for further information on how to apply under the Tier 4 Points Based System. Any false or forged documents found by the UK Embassy or High Commission may result in a 10 year ban from applying for any type of UK Visa, and may also result in a criminal conviction. Step 5: Application Outcome International Students must inform the College about the outcome of their Entry Clearance/VISA application within 7 days of the visa issue date. Successful applicants must inform the college of their arrival date. If entry clearance/further leave to remain is refused, students must contact the ECL Administrative Department via email: [email protected], as soon as possible with the relevant refusal documents from the British Embassy / High commission / UKVI. UK/EU Students must inform the College about the outcome of their Student Loan Application within 7 days of receipt of the loan approval, via email: [email protected], if they applied for financial support.
