S122 ACCOUNT CLERK KIND OF WORK: This is journeyman level clerical-accounting work in reviewing, processing, and maintenance of accounting or fiscal records. Work requires knowledge of techniques, methods, and procedures used in performing the more complex clerical-accounting functions. S232 SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE CLERK II

KIND OF WORK: Under general supervision, performs varied clerical work of a responsible nature, requiring knowledge of the operation of the division to which assigned, and the exercise of some independent judgement for an administrative office within the Duval County School Board. Such decisions as are made, however, are in accordance with established precedents or departmental policies. This class is the journeyman clerical class and lies above School Administrative Clerk I and below School Administrative Clerk III. The variety and difficulty of the work varies between positions, but where work is somewhat routine there is an added responsibility for finality of action and the more difficult and important work is performed under closer supervision. In all cases, advice is available in handling unusually difficult or important matters. May train and/or act as Lead Worker over lower level clerks.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Prepares payrolls from employee time reports, checks time reports and payrolls. Handles inquires or complaints from the employees or public; interprets and explains departmental policies and procedures to public and employees. Disposes of such matters or refers unusually difficult cases to a supervisor. Examines or proofs work performed by other clerks in this class or of a lower class. Work involves performing a combination of moderately involved clerical duties or performing a limited variety of complex duties, both of which require the exercise of independent judgment. Must have sufficient knowledge to be a primary source on the subject and analyze and resolve a variety of work problems. May be required to supervise a small clerical staff performing limited variety of moderately complex duties, or a large clerical staff performing more routine and respective duties. Work is reviewed upon completion for achievement of desired results.

KIND OF WORK: Under general direction, performs highly responsible secretarial and administrative duties as Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. This position is above that of Secretary IV and involves the performance of technical assignments independently without close supervision. An employee in a position allocated to this class performs a variety of secretarial, clerical, and administrative duties, including the interpretation of rules, regulations, and policies to agency officials and the public. Work may require participating to varying degrees in organizational and program matters utilizing an extensive knowledge of the administrator’s jurisdiction, school district policies, and views; preparing special reports; and performing special assignments as directed, in addition to interaction with local, state, and nationally elected officials. May supervise subordinate employees. Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed upon completion for conformance with agency policies and regulations by the administrator.

EXAMPLES OF WORK: Serves as personal assistant to the Superintendent of Schools which includes planning, initiating, and carrying to completion clerical, secretarial, and administrative activities. Under general supervision, performs clerical work in the preparation of data and the operation of a computer work-station to input data to or to receive data from a computer at remote location. Work involves assembling, verifying and/or keying information from a variety of source documents into computer accepted formats and performing clerical related assignments such as filing and typing. Works closely with various offices to verify data being submitted and to furnish information when requested. Work is reviewed periodically while in progress and upon completion for conformance with instructions or written procedures.

S025 SCHOOL LEAD POLICE EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (This is a red-lined position that will not be filled when vacated) KIND OF WORK: This is technical and protective service work at the lead worker level in monitoring and coordinating the receipt, transmission and dispatch of emergency calls, information and messages, and the dispatch of school police personnel and equipment and in troubleshooting, programming, and establishing and maintaining records on computerized security and fire alarm systems. Worker also dispatches school police and maintenance personnel and/or equipment and monitors, operates and responds to alarm activations within computerized security and fire alarm systems. Work requires knowledge of the operations and procedures of the School Police Emergency Communications Center and skill in the operation of emergency communications radio/telephone equipment and in the operating, programming and troubleshooting computerized security and fire alarm systems which is acquired through training and considerable on-the-job experience. KIND OF WORK: This is a fast paced, highly technical work environment involving automated systems in the receipt, transmission and dispatch of emergency calls, information and messages and the dispatch of school police personnel and equipment. Work requires the ability to comprehend and apply law enforcement and public safety operation procedures, which is learned through extensive training that consists of several phases of classroom and on-the-job training. Work is performed under general supervision where the dispatcher works under clearly defined procedures but has latitude to set priorities based on the events that are occurring at the time. KIND OF WORK: This is fast paced, highly technical work in assigning, monitoring, and coordinating the receipt, transmission and dispatch of emergency calls, information and messages, and the dispatch of school police personnel and equipment. Work requires the ability to apply knowledge of the operations and procedures of the School Police Emergency Communications Center which involves the use of emergency communications radio, telephone, and camera equipment which is acquired through training and considerable on-the-job experience. SIMS/DATA CONTROL CLERK TRAINEE KIND OF WORK: This is administrative support work performing troubleshooting, clerical, and data entry functions for and providing guidance and technical assistance to school-based employees regarding the District’s Student Information Management System (SIMS). As this is the trainee level, workers will be trained on the particulars of the District’s Student Information Management System as well as associated functions for a period of one year, at the end of which the worker will be either advanced to SIMS/Data Control Clerk or separated from employment in this class. In addition, the worker will be responsible for performing more complex work with a greater volume over time as a demonstration of appropriate progress towards successful completion of the on-the-job training program. This class lies below that of SIMS/Data Control Clerk and requires a detailed knowledge of SIMS and its associated screens as well as the techniques, methods, and procedures used in troubleshooting, entering data and performing related clerical functions. Contacts require courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in dealing with others, and include contacts to request or provide information, ask questions or obtain clarification. Work is normally performed in an office environment. Physical demands consist mainly of moving from one work location to another, sitting, or standing at a work station for extended periods of time, using standard office equipment on an ongoing basis, and may be required to lift light objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
