ST. ANASTASIA FALL FESTIVAL & OKTOBERFEST

The primary role of our volunteer is to provide companionship and or caregiver relief to persons on Hospice and their families. Volunteers share skills and interests in a manner that provide comfort and enrich the quality of life for those served. Volunteers provide companionship through presence, listening to music, reading and reminiscing etc. We offer various areas of volunteering within our organization, one of which is office support in both Newburgh and Middletown. Once the prospective volunteer has graduated the training, they can provide support in the geographic Location in which they reside. All interested community members are welcome. Hospice also welcomes prospective volunteers who are veterans, bilingual and/or Snow Birds. REFLEXIÓN DOMINICAL En este domingo, el Evangelio, hace referencia al comportamiento que se debe tener frente a la persona que ha pecado, es decir que ha faltado contra su condición de discípulo de Jesús. El evangelista recomienda que un hermano lo reprenda y le recuerde las demandas evangélicas. La finalidad de este llamado de atención es clara: se trata de invitarlo a la conversión, a regresar al camino de los seguidores del Señor. Si esto no ocurriera se debe llamar a otros miembros de la comunidad, esto ayudará a la objetividad y a la firmeza de la actitud aconsejada. La comunidad es responsable de la fidelidad de sus miembros a la voluntad de Dios. La fraternidad lleva a estar atentos ante los errores de otro, nos toca ponerlo en guardia “para que deje su mal camino”, como nos dice el profeta Ezequiel en la primera lectura. Estamos, sin duda, ante un asunto delicado y de difícil manejo. Pero es un vigoroso recuerdo de los requerimientos necesarios para pertenecer auténtica y responsablemente a la Iglesia. Por ejemplo, quienes en el mundo de hoy son cómplices, o incluso autores, de la situación de pobreza y de muerte de tantos y que al mismo tiempo se pretenden llamar cristianos, deben ser invocados al orden por la comunidad de los discípulos de Aquel que proclamó el Reino de vida a todos y en especial a los necesitados y oprimidos. De no hacerlo la comunidad se aleja de lo que pide el Señor y cae en la tibieza y la mediocridad. La corrección debe ser una corrección fraterna. La razón última de esta corrección es la caridad o el amor hacia el prójimo; teniendo presente que la práctica de la caridad, como nos dice san Pablo en la segunda lectura, es “la plenitud de la ley”. Por tanto, es bueno recordar, hoy, que el amor al prójimo nos presenta exigencias que desafían nuestra inercia y nuestro deseo de evitarnos problemas. No tengamos miedo a corregir y a ser corregidos, porque éste es el auténtico medio para hacer la voluntad de Dios y lograr una comunidad de acuerdo a los sentimientos del Señor. Amén.
