Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

We Pray to Stop Assisted Suicide O God, source of all life and hope, look kindly on our brothers and sisters facing the end of their lives, fill them with the hope of your mercy and give them peace and comfort. We pray for our California Legislators who are considering legalizing assisted suicide, inspire them to protect the lives of the elderly, the infirm and the disabled. Renew our commitment to building a community where every human life is welcomed and wanted, valued and defended -- from conception to natural death. We ask this through the intercession of Saint John Paul II. Amen.

WE CATHOLIC CHRISTIANS BELIEVE IN THE RIGHT TO LIFE FROM CONCEPTION TO NATURAL DEATH NOSOTROS LOS CATOLICOS CRISTIANOS CREEMOS EN EL DERECHO A LA VIDA DESDE LA CONCEPCION HASTA LA MUERTE NATURAL

~life ~ vida ~ life ~ vida ~ life ~ vida ~ life ~ vida ~ life ~ vida ~ life ~ vida ~

The Mission Circle wishes to thank everyone who helped make our White Elephant Sale a huge success! For those of you who donated items, shopped and helped out — we could not have done it without you!

Friday, July 3rd the Parish Offices will be closed in observance of Independence Day. We wish you all a safe and happy holiday! Thank You!

Anointing of the Sick Next Sunday, July 5th and the first Sunday of every month after the 12:45pm Mass, one of our priests will celebrate the Sacrament of the anointing of the sick. If you or someone you know is expecting to have surgery, has been ill or is elderly, please take advantage of this opportunity.

Nobody Does it Better! The Baby Bottle Boomerang was a tremendous success! Our parish community responded generously to say the least. Your bottles, turned in on or before last Sunday, were filled with change, cash and checks totaling $9,495.00! As promised, those funds were matched from parish resources so that the SCV Pregnancy Center received a total of $18,990.00. Way to respect life!

13 Sunday of Ordinary Time – Gospel of Mark 5:21-43 th

Today’s Gospel challenges us to think about our level of faith. Are we like the woman confident that a touch of the Lord’s clothes can bring her healing? Are we like the weepers believing that once life has gone it is lost? Jesus shows us that through Him all things are possible. What are we willing to hand over to Him in our lives that causes us anxiety, pain or sadness? Be open to His healing power.

Vacation Bible School is July 6th-10th! Don’t miss the opportunity to have your children join in on the fun! Cost is $30. Register at the R.E. office. This is a fantastic way for children to learn more about the Gospels. Don’t forget to bring your juices before classes so the juice is nice and chilled.

VIRTUS- SAFEGUARD THE CHILDREN TRAINING –JULY 14TH for TWO SESSIONS:

9AM- Noon and 6PM-9PM. If you plan to participate in church ministries (liturgical, education, youth and/or Boy Scouts) you must be certified. This is 3-hour mandatory class. Certification is good for 4 years. Participants should arrive 10 minutes before class time. Classes are held in Renehan Hall.

Registration for 2015-2016 classes is NOW OPEN! Enrollment Period Ends on July 24th The Office of Religious Education offers classes for children in preschool-8th grade. The Sacramental Program is two years and prepares students for receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. Students who have completed the sacraments are encouraged to continue in their faith formation. The upper grades instruct children in scripture readings, sacred Catholic traditions and doctrine. Junior High classes focus on morality in today’s society, Catholic Social Justice and scripture readings. Additionally, junior high students participate in community service projects. Knowledge and understanding of one’s faith is key to living a fulfilling spiritual life. Join the Ministry of Religious Education!

We are looking for a few good people who are looking to step out of their comfort zone (in a church pew) and step in front of a classroom of eager children. Children teach us, as much as we teach them. Share the Good News with an open audience which is ready to explore their prayer life, learn about Jesus through scripture readings and be creative in expressing their love for God and family. Becoming a catechist requires: An appointment with D.R.E., Nancy Medina, call 661.252.6950 or email [email protected] / Enroll in a Virtus Safeguard the Children class this summer / Fingerprinting / Availability to attend special classes and/or trainings during the year / Open-mind & heart so the Holy Spirit can teach the children through you / Desire to get involved at a deeper level in our community of faith / Like children & possess a good sense of humor!
