SU [Nursing] Certificate of Completion - FNP (Post Master's) Postgraduate education in nursing builds upon preparation at the graduate level and provides advanced role preparation and knowledge in a specialized area of nursing. The Department of Nursing at Salisbury University offers a post-masters program to prepare the masters-prepared nurse for advanced practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Students seeking certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner must complete an approved program of study, including a minimum of 26 semester hours of graduate credit with a cumulative average of 3.0 or higher and no grade lower than a C.
Admission Upon application to the University for graduate study, students may simultaneously apply to the Department of Nursing for admission. In addition to meeting the general requirements for admission to Salisbury University graduate study, applicants for admission to the graduate program in nursing must meet the following requirements: 1. Be accepted for graduate study at SU by the Admissions Office. 2. Provide an official transcript as evidence of completion of a NLN or CCNE accredited masters degree in nursing. 3. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on all college/university courses prior to admission. Applicants with a cumulative GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 may be considered for provisional admission. 4. Submit a one-to-two page narrative stating educational and professional goals. 5. Submit a current curriculum vitae/resume. 6. Submit two academic and/or professional recommendations addressing potential for nursing and graduate study. 7. Have a personal interview with a member of the Graduate Program Committee. International students must demonstrate proficiency in the English language. Additional SU requirements for admission of international students must be met, including a minimum of 550 on the TOEFL.
Enrollment Requirements After acceptance into the nursing program and prior to beginning any courses, students must: 1. Meet all Department of Nursing health requirements. 2. Provide evidence of current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. The course must be one designed for a health care provider, such as the AHA’s module C course. 3. Provide evidence of current RN licensure in the state of Maryland or state where you are practicing.
