This camp provided me with the opportunity to explore a rural part of Thailand that would be difficult to explore as a tourist. We were given an insight into the 'real' Thai way of life, from spending the day bathing and walking besides elephants to teaching some adorable Thai children English; who where so keen and welcoming.

10/ 10 Volunteer Placement 10 Program Administration 10 Living Situation 10 Community Engagement 10 Health & Safety 10 Day to Day Life 10 Camp Thailand camp B 18 May- 8 June Submitted by Katie Chilton - Newcastle upon Tyne United Kingdom | June 13, 2017 Give all 10 ratings seem unrealistic or not critical enough but it is simply because I cannot fault any part of my experience. I felt safe and secure at all times, the reps being not only approachable but going above and beyond to make sure that each individual had the best experience they could. Our accommodation was perfectly situated in the rural area with access to everything we needed. The staff were faultless, I cannot describe enough how much adoration I have for each member of staff that made my experience what it was. The volunteering in the elephant sanctuary was more than I could have asked for, and seeing the work they put in is really admiring. Could not have wished for a better experience than what Camp Thailand have given me and it is down to the individuals that worked at the camp.

10/ 10 Volunteer Placement 10 Program Administration 10 Living Situation 10 Community Engagement 10 Health & Safety 10 Day to Day Life 10 Incredible experience Submitted by Katie Davidson - Manchester England UCLan | June 11, 2017 I have just got back from Camp A in Cha-Am. Before we arrived in Bangkok, Camp Thailand provided us with support through the TEFL phases, gave us all the information we needed and answered any queries we had! When we arrived in Bangkok, the reps were waiting for us to give us a quick tour of Bangkok before we headed down to Cha-Am. Before we went into the schools we were given some extra training and advice. We got time to plan our activities and learn some Thai! We volunteered in a different school each weekday so got to experience a range of children, abilities and ages. The children loved having us in the schools and were so enthusiastic to learn. It was an amazing experience to provide the children with the chance to learn English through games and activities! While not in the schools, on the weekends and weekdays, Camp Thailand organised so many different activities for us, we never stopped! We had a beach and pool party, trip to see the rescued elephants, waterpark day, two beach days, visit to the monkey temple and many many more. After our two weeks in Cha-Am we headed off on a mini break to the secret garden, this was our last chance to relax and spend time with our group! It was an amazing trip. The reps are so informative, helpful and friendly! I would recommend camp Thailand to everyone! Overall Rating

Teaching english in Thai schools and visiting an elephant sanctuary as part of the trip was something which was incredible and a once in a lifetime opportunity that I would recommend to anyone. The reps were friendly and supportive throughout the 3 weeks and if there was ever an issue they were always on hand to try and help as best as they could. Overall Rating

10/ 10 Volunteer Placement 10 Program Administration 10 Living Situation 10 Community Engagement 10 Health & Safety 10 Day to Day Life 10 An experience not to miss Submitted by Rosie - Wigan England | June 08, 2017 I have tried to travel for the last 10 years and always found something that stopped me. Now, at almost 30 years old, I decided if it wasn't now, then it will never happen. I can truly say this was the best decision of my life so far! Camp Thailand were with me every step of the way, from first enquiring about a place with them, up to the final touches just before departing to meet them. The TEFL course is included and is the full accredited qualification. I completed this in the 8 weeks before camp started; we graduate and receive our certificates whilst in Thailand! A Day In The Life Of Camp: Camp B: The Elephant Sanctuary. We were based in Krasang just on the outskirts of Buriram. I arrived at camp, and what a cosy little place it was. Little wooden huts and thatched roofs that housed the bar, eating area and chill out area. There was a TV set up for movie nights and music at your leisure, a pool table for those one on one competitive games! And hammocks to get into where you can just sit back and relax. The Thai staff are all wonderful and cannot do enough to help you out. Their cooking is amazing- I was partial to a Thai green curry. The rooms were made up for four to six people per room, very spacious and clean (but you're not going to be spending too much time in there!) We had TEFL training in the classroom situated on camp, we were taught Thai and given an overview of the schools we would be teaching in. On the days we weren't teaching they had planned activities for us, a trip to the lake where you can hire inflatables and play out on the lake for as long as you like, you get dinner there (some amazing fried rice and vegetables are on offer!) Football matches (come on Buriram!!!), bike rides to nearby temples, the bikes can also be hired out at your leisure if you fancy exploring the surrounding grounds. We were taken to see the elephants, and what an experience that was, walking and bathing with them, then feeding them dinner whilst having your own picnic - this is an experience not to miss. When at the schools, I have never seen children so happy to see you, they are so excited and eager to learn English with us, they will keep you going from beginning to end of class and you will leave looking forward to seeing them again in the morning. We taught in a monk school and this is where we graduated, our certificates were blessed and presented to us by the top monk. You then have a graduation party and celebrate all of your hard work. There is so so much more I could add to this, but would end up being pages long! This is something you must experience yourselves as I will guarantee it will be something you will never ever forget. The memories of this will stay with me for a lifetime, it is something that I will never forget and am glad I gave myself the initial push at looking into Camp Thailand and applying for it. I am now looking at applying for the other camps with them next year and experiencing them all. Overall Rating

Submitted by Kelly Rourke - manchester England | June 05, 2017 I booked on to Camp Thailand because of the fab reviews I had read online, I wanted to travel but I also wanted to give something back whilst doing so and Camp Thailand was the perfect choice. From arriving on day one we were met by the most amazing reps, who were fully knowledgable on the surroundings as well as amazing people! Once at Camp we did our TEFL training which was so interesting but also kept fun and entertaining! THE CHILDREN WE TAUGHT WERE SUCH ANGELS!!!! They made the trip what it was. Whilst with Camp Thailand we did so many cool things from staying with and bathing the Elephants, to watching a Thai football game and getting involved in the local community! You get so much more than a holiday - it is the ultimate Thai Experience ! So, if you are looking to travel the world but would like to try new things and give something back whilst doing so then Camp Thailand is definitely the place for you! Submitted by Rio - Manchester United Kingdom | May 04, 2017 If you're thinking about doing Camp Thailand, I highly recommend that you "Go For It". Grab the opportunity with both hands. Camp Thailand was an absolutely amazing experience! Before camp Thailand i had never travelled anywhere without my family, and i had never been to Thailand. At camp, I made so many so many new friends, and we shared so many new experiences together. I have made so many amazing memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Moreover, I earned a qualification that can change my life and I would do Camp Thailand again at the drop of a hat. If you're reading this and your skeptical about doing Camp Thailand, I recommend you just go for it. I was very skeptical about signing up, but its one of the best decisions i have ever made. 10/ 10 Volunteer Placement 10 Program Administration 9 Living Situation 10 Community Engagement 10 Health & Safety 10 Day to Day Life 9 Here for a great time! Submitted by Molly Bell - Glasgow Scotland Gl | April 03, 2017 Before coming to camp, I imagined it to be like a British version of the Thai experience. I imagined that it would be all British staff, serving British food and only visiting a town for a couple of hours a day. Straight away, I was incorrect. The first day, we were emerged into the heart of Bangkok and explored its beauty. With two Thai staff guiding us through all its glory, I fell in love with Bangkok. I quickly realised the extreme difference from British to Thai culture. Being able to have Thai natives with me, I felt really comfortable already in this new city. When arriving at camp, we received a lovely, warm welcome. Camp B is very pretty and decorated with fairy lights, shells and paintings. Camp B is the best camp as it allows you to experience a little bit of everything. I love teaching and being able to teach English and gain a qualification was perfect for me. Our Muay Thai boxing session was very intense but extremely enjoyable. A visit to the Silk Village was both educational and such a laugh. The village were super excited to share their town. We had the chance to walk, wash and feed, 4 majestic elephants. This was the best day EVER! We even got to visit a Buriram United football game. I am soon to set off to spend a few days in Cambodia which will be insane! I may never go to Cambodia again so I am very lucky to be touring with a group of experienced people. My excitement is growing everyday to see its beauty. After Cambodia, as a team we will be visiting the beautiful island of Koh Samet. Kayaking, swimming, cycling and so much more! This is one of Thailand's most precious places and I am so lucky to spend time there! Camp Thailand is not just a trip, it's an authentic Thai experience! I've learned Thai, made amazing friends, worked with children, spent time with elephants and ate a silk worm. I am know that this is the BEST experience of my life. Any reservations I had before were gone in the first day. The staff are extremely friendly and fill you with confidence about your trip and abilities. This is my first trip and will not be my last! I don't want to go home at all!

Submitted by Robyn Shacklady - Bolton United Kingdom | March 16, 2017 I would recommend Camp Thailand to absolutely everyone and anyone! From teaching in the schools, helping at the orphanage, seeing the sights, all the activities and the crazy hard partying!!! It was literally a perfect mix! You really get to experience the Thai culture and see what a different world it is to what we are use to, it makes you so so grateful for what you have at home! But also you can fully have fun and enjoy it in your own way too! I did Camp C, met true friends for life! Crazy amazing memories! And I'm dying to go back, I went for 1 month and ended up staying in Thailand for 6. If your considering doing it, then I'd 100% recommend it, embrace Thailand and I'm sure you'll fall in love like I did!

10/ 10 Volunteer Placement 10 Program Administration 10 Living Situation 10 Community Engagement 10 Health & Safety 10 Day to Day Life 10 Camp Thailand - Camp B Submitted by Lily Barrett - Cheddar United Kingdom | February 07, 2017 I was on the January 2017 intake for Camp Thailand Camp B, which is titled The Real Thailand Experience. I was pretty apprehensive about the experience, as I had no idea what to expect, but I can honestly hand on heart say that it was by far the best experience of my life, and I met the most amazing people while I was there, and continue to keep in touch with them! The staff at camp are really so hospitable, like all of the Thai people, and they can't do enough to help you. We were based in Kra Sang, and were teaching English in the local schools around the villages surrounding, which was a really humbling experience, as the children often were very poor but happier and more full of life than any I'd ever met at home. The accommodation at camp was very homely, as the social area has a TV and hammocks and tables and there was always people around down there, and the rooms are shared, which I really enjoyed as you instantly become a lot closer to people. The social life at camp was also really good, as often when we got back from teaching for the day, there would be an activity planned for the evening, or we would go out for dinner, and often end up at a local bar. However, if we didn't want to go out one night and juts wanted to chill, they were fine with that, so the choice was completely up to us which I liked a lot. I paid extra to take part in the Bangkok tour at the start of the trip, which everyone on my intake also paid for, as there was only 10 people on my intake, which is a small group, but I was grateful for it, as I got to know everyone well. It was definitely an experience to see Bangkok, as expected it was nothing like the rural parts of Thailand, but fun all the same. I also paid extra to go to Cambodia for four days during my time at camp, which I would definitely recommend doing, as although they're neighbouring and have lots of similarities, Cambodia and Thailand are different. We stayed in Siem Reap and went to Pub Street for two nights, which is essentially the strip where all the pubs are, hence the name. We also got to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat Temple which is one of the 7 classic wonders of the world, which was a really amazing experience. We also visited the Elephant Village, and were lucky enough to be able to spend the day with the elephants, feeding them, bathing them and walking them. We also saw a temple at the village and made paper out of elephant poo which was as weird as it sounds. The most humbling part of the trip was seeing the floating village in Cambodia, as there was extreme poverty there. We had the opportunity to be able to donate rice to feed the orphans in the school so I and the other intake who were with me didn't hesitate to do that. The final part of the trip was a stay on Koh Samed, one of the islands, and this was without a shadow of a doubt my favourite part of the trip, as nothing is planned by the reps for this part, it's completely up to you what you want to do, and then the reps will help you sort it all out. My intake went snorkelling around different islands on a speedboat, went to the UV paint bar, went to multiple beach bars, and travelled around to all the islands viewpoints and beaches in the day. Some of my intake stayed at the accommodation for some of the days as they just wanted to be on the beach, which was fine, so it really is very much your choice on what you do. Overall, if I could re do the whole Month I'd do it in a heartbeat. It really was the best experience of my life and I'd recommend it to anyone who is interested.

10/ 10 Volunteer Placement 10 Program Administration 10 Living Situation 10 Community Engagement 10 Health & Safety 10 Day to Day Life 10 My camp Thailand experience Submitted by Hayleigh - Hertfordshire United Kingdom University of Hertfordshire | January 15, 2017 I was a part of camp Thailand from Aug - Sep 2015 , and I can honestly say taking part in this amazing experience was one of the best things I've ever done. From hands on teaching in schools , hearing the children learn English and grow first hand from your own input is an indescribable experience. We visited schools all around thailand . Some which had very little or no funding for books and supplies , and was able to provide the schools with learning equipment such as reading books , pens pencils and educational games and even playing facilities in their play ground such as climbing frames . Seeing the children's faces light up and even the teachers who were overwhelmed with gratitude was a life changing experience for us all. We also visited local orphanages and spent time with the children teaching them English which was an emotionally touching and humbling experience. There is no other programme offering what Camp Thailand does in Thailand , the life changing work of the team had made a huge difference all over Thailand and also changed my own perspective on life in a positive way. Alongside teaching I was able to travel to Cambodia and sight see several parts of Thailand and other islands , what better opportunity is there to be able to travel , sight see , and make a difference to lives. The camp intake for my month ranged from a variety of people all over the UK and even USA , I've truly met friends for life through camp Thailand , the perfect combination of fun partying , making a difference in the community and being able to travel safely with new friends from the camp , truly was a once in a lifetime experience ! I urge anyone with an interest in Camp Thailand to go for it ! You could make a difference too and have the time of your life !

Submitted by Melissa Sweet - Melbourne Australia | January 14, 2017 Camp Thailand is by far the best thing i have done! In March 2016 i decided to head out to Thailand with Camp Thailand and it was easily the best thing i have experienced, i was extremely nervous going out to a foreign country such as Thailand by myself but the amazing office staff helped me out every step of the way before my trip, i was emailing them all the time with 101 questions about visas, flights, accommodation ect. but they where more then happy to answer and help me out whenever they could! When i got off the plane in Thailand all my worries went away, as soon as i met my reps and everyone else on the intake i had a feeling that the month was going to be something to remember and that it was! From touring Bangkok, going to camp and spending the day at the local lake, teaching English to the most well mannered and adorable kids, going to a 3 day water festival called Songkran, spending time with the elephants, going to Cambodia and having some fun nights out! i honestly don't think we could have squeezed any more in the month! I have met the most amazing friends and i have memories that will now last a lifetime!

I took part in Camp Thailand in the summer of 2016 and I went to Camp C in Chiang Mai. Me and a friend went together however, by the end of the first night I was friends with everyone in my group! We began our journey in Bangkok and we joined the Bangkok tour which was soo much fun! We spent the first night getting to know everyone in the Camp C group at a rooftop bar in Bangkok where there was lots of good food, games, dancing and alcohol. We then spent the first day in Bangkok on the tour, we visited the Bangkok temples (which were beautiful) and then we had the afternoon on a longboat around the Bangkok canals. From Bangkok we got on a sleeper train to Chiang Mai which was a really cool experience, we set of at 7pm and arrived into Chiang Mai at 7:30 the next morning feeling refreshed after our surprisingly good nights sleep (They make you a bed and give you pillows and blankets). We then spent the rest of our time in Chiang Mai which is such a lovely place. Whilst there we - Spent 2 nights in an elephant sanctuary - Taught in a range of schools - Visited an orphanage - Spent a lot of time at the amazing night markets - Bungee Jumping - Water rafting - Celebrated birthdays - Bike tour of Chiang Mai - Spent two nights in Pai (A really cool traveller town not too far from Chiang Mai) Overall, Camp Thailand was an amazing opportunity for me, I cared for elephants, taught English to lots of really cool children, had my heart warmed by the amazing children in the orphanage, made some of the best memories and made friends for life! Finally I cant forget to give the reps a massive shout out Noah, Budgie, Chompooh, Tic and Lee, they were supportive, funny and the best reps we could have wished for!! Overall Rating

This was my first ever trip out of the EU on my first ever passport which was less than a year old, scary right?! This programme is a fantastic step for anyone wanting to experience something different, volunteer, make friends, change lives and just indulge yourself in an entirely new culture. The staff are absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough to make sure we were settled and happy, accommodation you stay in for the month is modern and clean, the volunteering is fully immersive and eye opening and overall the entire trip is great fun. You'll come home having experienced so many different things, random events, temples, shrines, markets, random adventures, villages and towns, schools and nurseries and met so many new people, all amazing memories you will never forget. The only recommendations I will ever have for anyone reading this is: relax, have an open mind to everyone and everything and ALWAYS take a backpack rather than a suitcase, a good, strong backpack.
