The Social Reporter Sengkurong religious school holds khatam ceremony Posted by admin in Ministry of Religious Affairs on October 13, 2009 Forty Nine students from the Sengkurong Religious School participated in the Khatam Quran ceremony to signifying the completion of reciting the Holy Quran. The event took place at the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Sengkurong. The event organised by the Sengkruong Religious School began with the recital of the Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour Head of Special Dak’wah and New Muslim Converts development unit, Conversion and Growth for New Converts section, Islamic Dak’wah center Ministry of Religious Affairs, Hj Abas bin Awg Hj Tuah. It was then followed by the recital of several surahs (passages) by the participants, whereas the prayer for Khatam (Completion of the Quran) was read by Ak Md Rafiuddin bin Pg Darun. Also in attendance during the event was the co-chairperson for the event, , Begawan Pehin Khatib Hj Zainuddin bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Tamin, and the Imam for the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque, Mohammad Endy bin Masri as well as officers and staff of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Islamic Dak’wah center, teachers and staff and parents of the partipants.

Divers receive certification Posted by admin in BOMBA on October 10, 2009 SO Hj Mustapa bin Hj Mohammad, DSO Md Harris bin Hj Md Zaini, ABK 75 Hj Sofri bin Hj Bolaji and ABK 147 Hj Roslan bin Hj Bakir from the fire rescue department yesterday received their certificates and badges, certifying them to be certified rescue divers after completing and passing the Public Safety Diver First Responder Supervisor Course.
Certified divers in fire services department On hand to present them with the certificates was the Acting Director of Fire and Rescue Department, Lim Hock Guan. The 14 day course was held in Terangganu, Malaysia, where according the assistant Director of Fire and rescue department, Hjh Siti Mayang binti Hj Hussin, the course focused on theory, practical, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), vitality test by training scenario, and exams to test ability each participants. In her opening speech she said that the participants will undergo evaluation tests and exams every three years to test the participants, competency and to ensure that their skills and abilities are at an optimum level. She said that the objective of the department’s decision to send four divers was as part of an early preparation for the department to establish a diving unit in each fire and rescue branch throughout the four districts. She added that it is part of strategic plan in realising the fast respond effectiveness of the department in providing efficient and effective responses to rescue site as well as upgrading and enhancing the quality of services. She explained that with the certificate of recognition, the participants will one day be able to be the head or assistant head of a new diving unit in the four districts and they will be able to train and supervise new diving personals.

Meanwhile the participants had said that thanks to the opportunity given to the by the department they are able to provide better services, and pass on the skills and expertise to fellow divers at the same time give them insights to the criterias and requirements needed to be a certified rescue diver in the department.

Students, teachers and parents during the special gathering Special Needs Students of the Special Education of Pre Vocational Class of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Collage yesterday held a Special Hari Raya celebration in the concept of an open house. Deputy Principal of SOAS Collage Haji Mohd Roslan bin Haji Mohd Hassan, said that this was indeed a special occasion as previous pravok students had also attended the ceremony. It is so much like a reunion between families. He added that the facilities and teaching techniques for the special needs students were based around the concept of family amongst other things. He said that they were lucky to have teachers that are caring and look after the welfare of the pra vok students as deeply as they do. Through the programs that has been implemented in SOAS collage, the teachers, students and parents become very close. The strong bond between them was thanks to the dedication of the teachers, collage administration and parents unwavering love. Meanwhile the Pra Vok Head of Department Md Sirazzudeen Haji Mohd Maidin, said that this was also an opportunity for teachers and parents to discuss about their child’s progress, not only at home but also in school. This was also more like an informal Parent Teachers meeting as well, he said. Wild Orchid collection In conjunction with World Post day which falls on Friday 9th October, the Postal Service Department announced the release of a Thematic Stamp collection with the theme of wild orchids. The thematic stamp collection will be made available at all post office on 9th October coinciding with the World Post Day. According to head of Philatelic Unit, Postal Services Department, Hjh Hammah bte Puasa, the complete set pack is limited to only a thousand prints, while only 40,000 of the three stamp designs were produced. She also added that only 6,000 Official first day covers and 1,000 set of stamp booklets were produced. Serombongan 29 delegasi dari Jabatan Pendidikan Republik Filipina (DepEd) dalam rangka lawatan rasmi dua hari ke negara ini petang tadi mengadakan lawatan ke Sekolah Ugama Pengiran Anak Puteri Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah, Kilanas, sebagai salah satu satu proses pembelajaran yang membolehkan para peserta menyukat dan membandingkan pendekatanpendekatan dalam program-program khas serta inovasi yang akan menjadi satu garis panduan ke arah meningkatkan kualiti Pendidikan Madrasah di Republik Filipina secara amnya dan di daerah-daerah lain khususnya Rombongan yang diketuai oleh Setiausaha Rendah Hal Ehwal Islam, Jabatan Pendidikan Republik Filipina, Manaros B.Boransing itu juga disertai Penolong Setiausaha Jabatan Pendidikan Republik Filipina, Jonathan E.Malaya. Fokus perbandingan Pendidikan Madrasah termasuk proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran, struktur sokongan dalam pelaksanaan program, sistem sokongan pengurusan dan prosedur, keupayaan-keupayaan yang diperlukan bagi melaksanakan program untuk Pendidikan Madrasah serta kurikulum dan berkongsi kejayaan orang lain dalam Pendidikan Madrasah. Para peserta itu juga berhasrat mendokumenkan secara individu mengenai apa yang mereka perolehi dengan menggunakan panduan jurnal pembelajaran serta membincangkan beberapa rancangan dan langkah tertentu bagaimana mereka boleh mengadaptasikan pembelajaran ini kepada program di tempat mereka. Ketibaan rombongan dialu-alukan oleh Guru Besar Sekolah Ugama PAP Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah, Maladiah binti Liman serta pegawai-pegawai dari Jabatan Pengajian Islam (JPI) Kementerian Hal Ehwal Ugama (KHEU) dan Kementerian Pendidikan. Rombongan kemudian diberikan taklimat mengenai struktur pentadbiran sekolah, aktiviti-aktiviti dan akademik yang terdapat di sekolah berkenaan selain berpeluang melihat persekitaran sekolah, bilik-bilik darjah, bilik pentadbiran, bilik guru-guru serta lain-lain kemudahan yang terdapat di sekolah tersebut. Sekolah Ugama Pengiran Anak Puteri Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah, Kilanas, telah ditumbuhkan pada tahun 1958 yang mana nama asalnyua adalah Sekolah Ugama Orang Kaya Setia Bakti, Kilanas. Kemudahan yang ada pada sekolah tersebut adalah 15 buah bilik darjah, bilik pentadbiran, dan bilik guru-guru. Students pray for success The Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddein collage yesterday held a hajat prayer and recital of Surah Yassin in a bid to invoke ALLAH’s blessings for students who are facing their end of year exams. Student from the secondary 3 and five as well as year 8 who are taking their big exams namely, the Lower secondary examinations (PMB) the ‘O’levels and the new Student Progress Examination (SPE)for year 8 students.
SOASC Principal Pg Hj Zahari Pg Hj Ahmad said that the hajat prayers is part of the collage’s activity where it is held prior to big exams. He said that by holding the mass hajat prayers with students, teachers and parents and the recital of the Surah Yassin, it also instills a spiritual and religious aspect of learning to the students. He said that as Muslims we must never forget to pray and invoke ALLAH’s blessings upon our activities and daily life. Students must learn of this at an early age so that the Islamic philosophy will be strong in their hearts and mind, not only in school but also outside school, and the years to come. Mesyuarat BIMP-EAGA ketua ketua kastam ke 3 Posted by admin in General News on October 1, 2009 GADONG Selasa 29 September – Arus perdagangan antarabangsa dan serantau, terus menjadi pemacu penting untuk global dan kemakmuran ekonomi kebangsaan. Pentadbiran Kastam melalui perdagangan antarabangsa dan serantau adalah penting dan lebih mencabar daripada sebelumnya. Memasuki dekad abad ke 21, Pentadbiran Kastam di seluruh dunia menghadapi rintangan yang berat dan kadang-kadang bertentangan yang timbul daripada globalisasi perdagangan. Di satu sisi, ada keperluan untuk keselamatan dan kawalan yang berkesan daripada rantaian bekalan antarabangsa, sementara di sisi lain, ada tuntutan peningkatan fasilitasi lebih besar daripada perdagangan yang sah. Perkara tersebut telah dipertengahkan oleh Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Kewangan, Haji Hisham bin Hj Mohd Hanifah semasa membuka resmi mesyurat BIMP-EAGA KetuaKetua Kastam kali ke 3 di Gadong. Mesyuarat tersebut akan berjalan selama dua hari yang mana Mesyuarat BIMP-EAGA Ketua-Ketua Kastam yang pertama pernah diadakan di Davao City, Phillipines pada 2007, Manakala mesyuarat ke dua diadakan di Kota Kinabalu pada tahun 2008, yang mana pada mesyurat tersebut Pelan Tindakan bagi memperkuhkan implementasi penguatan tatacara insitutional, memudahkan dan menyenangkan prosedur kastam dan pelaksanaan projek-projek Kastam telah dijalankan. Dengan strategi ini, ianya akan meningkatkan dan memperbaiki kecekapan dan produktiviti perkhidmatan penghantaran di Kastam, Imigresen, Kuarantin dan Keselamatan (CIQS) dalam rangka untuk menuai keuntungan kompetitif pasaran global. Beliau menerangkan bahawa tantangan dan peluang ini memerlukan keberanian, proaktif dan tanggapan inovatif yang merangkumi rangkaian kastam yang berkesan, pengurusan yang lebih baik daripada sempadan, memperdalam pemahaman rantai bekalan dan pengurusan, meningkatkan teknologi baru, dan memperkukuhkan perkongsian adat tidak hanya dengan perdagangan tetapi juga dengan instansi lain dan sektor swasta. Ini akan membolehkan pihak Kastam untuk melindungi fiskal, kewangan dan kepentingan ekonomi negara serta melindungi masyarakat secara keseluruhan. Beliau menambah bahawa dalam era globalisasi dan teknologi ini, semua agensi termasuk Pentadbiran Kastam dituntut untuk berorientasikan perkhidmatan dan mampu memenuhi harapan masyarakat dan perniagaan. Orientasi baru Kastam, memerlukan pergerakan menuju berasaskan pengetahuan dan strategi yang berorientasikan pelanggan, tetapi tanpa kompromi dari setiap aspek keselamatan nasional. Beliau mengatakan bahawa kompentasi kakitangan hendaklah menfokuskan pada pelanggan dan perkhidmatan bagi mengurangkan beban pentadbiran pada perdagangan yang sah. Latihan dan pemodenan orgniasasi sepatutunya menyebabkan tahap inigrati yang tinggi yang mana ianya juga menunjukan konsistensi, transparensi, kejujuran dan keadilan. Pegawai Kastam harus mempunyai kemampuan dan kemahiran di semua dimensi operasi dengan meningkatkan profesionalisme mereka melalui program pembangunan kapasiti yang berkesan. upaya untuk meninjau prosedur yang didasarkan pada amalan terbaik antarabangsa dan konvensyen termasuk Kyoto Semakan konvensyen WCO harus tetap. Pada saat yang sama beliau menjelaskan bahawa, Pentadbir Kastam harus juga mengambil kesempatan daripada teknologi baru untuk meningkatkan, antara lain, pengolahan, pengurusan risiko, kecerdasan dan pengesanan yang ‘non intrusif’. Kemuncak BIMP-EAGA Ke5 telah memberikan pengarahan yang lebih lanjut untuk negara-negara ahli untuk mengambil tindakan yang konkret dan untuk menpercepatkan masalah-masalah yang timbul dalam pelaksanaan projek dan untuk mempercepat kesimpulan daripada Memorandum Kesepahaman tentang harmonisasi, penyederhanaan Undang-undang CIQS, Peraturan dan Prosedur (RPS). Belaiu mengatakan BIMP-EAGA Kastam masih pada tahap awal akan tetapi kita harus bergerak maju dengan cepat, untuk menghadapi cabaran dan persaingan daripada kawasan Pertumbuhan lain. Pada masa ini sudah ada beberapa projek di dalam rancangan yang akan memberi impak terhadap operasi kastam. Ini termasuk penubuhan BIMP-EAGA sebagai ‘bakul makanan’ (Food Basket) untuk ASEAN dan Asia pada umumnya, dan uji coba untuk perkhidmatan ‘Roll-on Roll-off’ di laluan keutamaan yang telah ditentukan. Beliau juga berharap mesyuarat yang pertama kali diadakan di Brunei Darussalam ini akan memberikan tonggak penting untuk kerjasama yang lebih kuat dan lebih mendalam di antara ahli BIMP-EAGA.
