Traffic Impact Analysis Is an integral portion of developing transportation master plans and corridor studies related to the planning of traffic and transportation issues including: Design of roadways, interchanges and intersections Transportation system surveillance and modeling Emergency evacuation / incident management Corridor improvements to support: – Economic development – Improve traffic operation efficiency and safety – Interstate widening – Commercial, industrial and retail developments – Residential developments Transportation planning for major events Traffic Signal Systems Includes the completion of projects involving the planning and design of intersections and their associated signalization requirements including: Specific intersection improvement development and design to improve capacity, safety and efficiency Individual signalized intersections Computerized signal systems for major arterial corridors Traffic operations assessments and enhancements of major arterial corridors, local and state, to alleviate traffic congestion Local major arterial corridor/roadway design, which include new or modified intersections Commercial/Retail/Industrial developments requiring new intersections with adjacent arterials for site ingress and egress Residential single family and multi-family developments requiring new intersections with adjacent arterials for site ingress and egress Interchanges for exits and entrances to major highway and interstate corridors Highway and roadway corridor extensions and widening projects Several of the above projects included protection control circuitry – emergency vehicles and railroads. As part of our scope of services for signal system design, the timing and phasing task was inclusive of intersection and corridor optimization utilizing various traffic engineering software such as TEAPAC-Signal 2000, PASSER II, CORSIM, and VISSIM II. Many of our traffic operational analysis and impact analysis projects included capacity analysis (existing and future) for both signalized and unsignalized intersections. Signal warrant analysis was also performed for those intersections proposed for signalization. Traffic Control Device Plans An area in which Urban Systems has an extensive amount of experience is Traffic Control Devices Plans and Detour Plans. They assure that the public is not seriously inconvenienced by construction activities. USI has often met with local business owners to incorporate their needs into the Traffic Control Plans. Geometric Design of Roadways USI has completed numerous federally funded urban systems projects. These projects included rural and urban roadway design as a major component of the project scope. The roadway design included surveyor coordinator, utility relocation, identification of right-of-way limits and acquisitions as well as all civil engineering aspects associated with the design and construction of new roadway/street corridor and sections and/or reconstruction. Those aspects include geometric design, pavement design, subsurface drainage (curb and gutter and open ditch), pavement markings, construction sequencing and traffic control device plans Intelligent Transportation Systems Traffic Flow Modeling
