MANILA, Philippines – Vice Ganda can now add book author in his achievements. The comedian and TV host recently launched his book President Vice: Ang Bagong Panggulo ng Pilipinas on Saturday, July 16 at the SM Skydome. In an interview with the press during the book launch, Vice said he was very happy with the outcome and support he received from the book. "Masaya, masaya. Overwhelming itong response ng mga tao sa pagbili nung libro ko. Masayang masaya," he said. (Very happy. The response has really been overwhelming from the people who bought the book. So I'm very happy.) According to Vice, what convinced him to write the book was simply to make people laugh in spite of the problems they face – from traffic and other bad news. "That's the only reason why I made this book. Gusto ko lang magpatawa (I just want to make people laugh)," Vice said. "Kung tutuusin hindi naman ako kikita ng malaki sa libro. "Kung sa publishing ka, alam mo naman hindi ka kikita nang kalaki sa pagawa ng libro. Gusto ko lang talaga mag-spread ng good vibes lalo na sa mga panahon na – 'di ba, nag traffic malala, wala ka nang magagawa, hindi ka makanood ng TV... malibang ka lang sa mga ganoong pagkakataon sa pamamagitan ng librong ito." (In reality, I really won't earn much from the book because if you're in publishing, you don't expect to earn a lot in writing a book. I just really want to spread good vibes, especially in times when the traffic is bad, you have nothing to do, you can't watch TV. This book is just for you to be entertained during those times.)
The book he said was conceptualized and written at the time when the national elections became so heated, with people going against each other on social media. "That time, gusto ko lang mag-post ng mga bagay na nakakatawa or good vibes. Kaya ginawa ko yung hashtag na #PagbabagosaTwitter. Eh humit. Eh compile na natin ito," Vice said, adding the management had asked him to gather the best tweets, with some ideas from the publishing firm as well. (That time, I just really wanted to post things that were funny or gave good vibes. That's why I made the hashtag #PagbabagoSaTwitter. It became a hit so we compiled them all.) When asked for a comment on those who might criticize him for the book, Vice said: "Ay wala. (None) They don't deserve my time and my statement. Sa mga followers and supporters na lang, I love you iyon." If President Rodrigo Duterte offered him a position, would he accept it? "Parang hindi. Parang wala, hindi naman ako fit, hindi ako handa pa. Kung handa ako, tatangapin ko pa sa pagkakataon na ito na hindi ako handa, ayoko naman manloko ng tao diba? Disservice to the people is corruption," Vice said. (Maybe no. I'm not fit and and I'm not ready. If I'm ready, I'll accept it but as of this time when I'm not ready, I don't want to fool people.) According to a press release, President Vice: Ang Bagong Panggulo ng Pilipinas, contains Vice's "straightforward solutions that may sound stupid but makes absolute sense." The book costs P175. Vice is the latest celebrity to come out with a book, joining the likes of Alex Gonzaga, Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heussaff, and Ramon Bautista among others. – Rappler.com
