NEPHTALI DELGADO REYES, HEAD COACH (914)740-6883 • [email protected] Since the day he came to Monroe in 2011, Coach Nephtali Delgado Reyes has amassed a 174-26 (.870 winning percentage). Delgado Reyes has won over 30 matches four times in his tenure. The team has transitioned from a Division II program into a Division I team in the NJCAA. His teams have advanced to nationals three times, won five regional championships as well as three district championships. One of Puerto Rico’s most revered volleyball coaches, Coach Delgado Reyes emphasizes a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence both on and off the court. His list of accomplishments is long. He coached Adianez JV to the national championships, a third place finish in the Cup El Nuevo Dia, and the Championship of the qualifiers to the HS Central American Games. He led he Bayamon Military Academy to the Varsity Girls Championship League LACC and national finals. His team won the Championship in the Primera Hora National Tournament for 14 yearolds. He also won four tournaments with a Top Select 15 Elite Team. While technique and fitness are the hallmarks of any successful volleyball team, Coach Delgado Reyes preaches a team concept and selflessness first and foremost. “The idea is to get individual players on the same page, so in the end they function as a well-oiled team,” he says. onroe College volleyball program began in 2005 and started competing at the NJCAA Division I level in 2014. The team won the District championship and played in the National Tournament in the inaugural season. Head Coach Nephtali Delgado Reyes has consecutive AVCA Coach of the year honors in 2012 and 2013 with also two District L Coach of the Year honor in 2012 and 2013 as well. The Mustangs earned 5 Region XV champions and three District L Championships and three players captured All American Honors and All National Tournament team in 2013. In 2012 and 2013 team was honored with the Region XV Sportsmanship Award and in 2013-2014 team honored with NJCAA Honorable Mention All-Academic team. With an emphasis on skill development, physical fitness, discipline and academics, Mustang volleyball players are destined to excel. In many cases, players complete their two years of eligibility at Monroe and gain scholarships to NCAA programs. Monroe volleyball is a year-round program. Players compete in home matches and practice in the spectacular Monroe Athletic Complex. During the preseason Monroe plays against NCAA competition. Mustangs are also known for their volunteer service in the community.
