Walnut Township Special Trustees Meeting January 19, 2017 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM. Trustees William Yates, Doug Leith and Terry Horn were present. The sole purpose of this meeting is to: 1. Approve Township Fire Levy Language 2. Fire Department Personnel Issues 3. Beach Stop Market Liquor License Andy Wolfe, resident of Fairfield Beach, provided an overview of his Beach Stop Market project at Fairfield Beach. He explained that he had held the liquor license for 5 years and was not aware that it would be coming before the Township Trustees for their input on the activation of the D5 liquor license. Wolfe asked if the Trustees had any objections to his project. After discussion, Trustee Horn made a motion to rescind the motion made at the January 3, 2017 regular Trustee meeting to request a public hearing for the D5 Liquor License held by Andy Wolfe. Trustee Yates seconded the motion. The motion passed with 3 yes votes. Trustee Horn will contact Sandy Wilson at the Ohio Division of Liquor Control regarding canceling the request for a hearing. Resolution 04-17 was returned to the Trustees due to needing additional language. It is critical that any items that potentially the levy monies would be used for are included in the Resolution. People, equipment, services, and communications need to be detailed, to mention several of the most critical. Trustee Yates made a motion to rescind Resolution 04-17 that was passed on January 3, 2017. Trustee Horn seconded the motion. The motion passed with 3 yes votes. Trustee Yates presented a new Resolution that incorporates the recommended additional potential uses of levy funds. Trustee Leith moved to pass Resolution 05-17 A Resolution determining that is it necessary to levy a tax outside the tem-mill limitations for fire protection and emergency medical services and requesting the Fairfield County Auditor to certify the total current tax valuation of the township and the dollar amount of revenue

that would be generated by a 3 mill additional levy. Trustee Horn seconded the motion. The motion passed with 3 yes votes. There is a potential personnel issue with The Thurston Walnut Township Fire Chief. He has turned in his keys and equipment and has not been at the station for the last week. Mayor Mary Boring of the Village of Thurston will be sending a certified letter to Jim Hite to request his response as to his employment status. Jaime Carroll is acting Fire Chief while the issue is being addressed. Trustee Yates stated that Fire Chief Price from the Millersport Fire Department would be available to assist if needed. The Trustees would need to participate in any discussions if a new Fire Chief is needed. Trustee Leith will ask that Mayor Boring attend the Regular Trustee Meeting on February 7th. A Special Trustee Meeting will be held on January 26th, once the township receives the certification from the Fairfield County Auditor for the proposed 3 mill fire levy. 7:30 PM, Trustee Yates made a motion to adjourn. Trustee Horn seconded the motion. The motion passed with 3 yes votes.
