I've heard mixed reviews about the site. I don't personally love it but I do have some work available through it. Does anyone take it seriously? I really want to start linking the first half of my book to people but I'm not sure if wattpad is the most professional way to do so.

I had an account a couple years ago, but I ended up deleting it. From what I remember, the only stories that got any attention were One Direction fanfics. permalink embed save

That is horrifying. And reminds me of fanfiction.net - is that still a thing?

I've had accounts over the years but eventually my password's get forgotten or lost- whatever, after about a week on Wattpad I'm sick of it. There's a lot of fan fiction there which I don't have a problem with, but It's badly written so I go to AO3 for that. So much One Direction.

FAQ
For the main writing/fan fiction sites for me (AO3, fanfic.net, Wattpad) it's the lowest ranking. A lot of the fiction is based on teenagers. The popular works on there are barely readable. For the works that are actually readable the plot isn't interesting, it's like every story is an almost exact copy of the next on Wattpad.

POSTING GUIDELINES
While there are plenty of stupid pre-teen girls on Wattpad who make horrible fan-fiction, that isn't all Wattpad is about. I'm on Wattpad as well and I've a handful of people my age (late-teens to early twenties.) who are good writers and have good stories. What's your Wattpad name? I'll check you book out.

My username is ParandusGold - and hey thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah there does seem to be a large number of YA bad love stories on there. Do you have any recommendations on there/have anything on there yourself?
3. Keep it civil.

Paladin by Sally Slater. Prodigy by Edward Mullen.
5. Post questions/discussion starters on writing related subjects.
Those are by far the two best books there, as for myself I only have poetry and rants (which I regret doing now but oh well) up there right now. I am writing a story right now but I'm not releasing it until I have the first draft done.
6. Check out our wiki and FAQ.
