Where are we up to? Regional Community Health Structure Update: proposed management of transition to BHF Regional Community Health structure. 

Alison McLennan has been announced as BHF Community Health Manager.

Brett Webster will continue to focus more on managing the restructure until the end of June.

Alison King is on some pre-planned leave for June and further decisions on how her skills can be utilised in the new structure will be made upon her return.

A plan to manage the restructure until the end of the year has been developed. This can be found on the regional drive here. This plan will be added to as we go.

Further consultation on areas of uncertainty within the restructure has commenced with recommendations expected in the next couple of weeks. This consultation includes the service areas of BCC, ACAT, Palliative Care and Aboriginal Health. In addition it looks to inform Kangaroo Island leadership structures and further explore Nursing and Allied Health Clinical Leadership.

Current leadership staff at an AHP3/RN3/ASO6 level have received a letter informing them of the process to be undertaken in recruiting to the ongoing senior management team. The process that will occur in the future, will be: o An internal quarantined expression of interest (EOI) in the first instance for substantive managers at an AHP3/RN3/ASO6 to apply. o The EOI will be called for a two week period, followed by a merit based selection process. o Roles that have been unable to be filled through the above process will be advertised ongoing in JobsSA.

It is important to acknowledge that both INCHS and HSFKI have employees within the current leadership team outside of the above classification. These roles/responsibilities will continue to be further mapped and considered in the overall BHF structure.

As a result of this restructure and in line with HR principles, staff with substantive FTE will be retained in the new organisational structure.

Over the last several weeks some temporary members of the current leadership team have made decisions to follow other career options either within BHF or other organisations. These decisions have been difficult and made after a lot of reflection and support from their team members. Alison McLennan and Brett Webster are currently planning with teams and individual to put temporary arrangements in place to ensure line management support can continue through this transition. It is important to emphasise that these temporary arrangements will not impact on the HR process described above.

This week will be the last week for Sally McCall (Program Support Manager, HSFKI) within the current structure. Sally’s role will be covered for the short term by Glenda Scira. Glenda will temporarily fulfil the role of leading the CH Business Support programs across the broader BHF region. The details of which will be worked out over this week but in the meantime Glenda can be contacted on 0475 826 487. Glenda’s GP plus Team Leader role will be delegated to Caroline Wilksch.

Further announcements will be communicated through communiques, emails, meetings etc. as appropriate. The role out and transition to the new organisation structure will move along steadily from this point forward. Consultations with unions and other key stakeholders continue.
