JUNE 1st - 4th, 2017 Dear Classmates-

August 2016

Can it really be 40 years since Star Wars premiered? It opened on May 25, 1977. We graduated June 7, 1977. After Reunions and before Commencement, many of us went to the movies. In remembrance and celebration of that momentous time in history, we say… MAY THE 40th BE WITH YOU. Our Fabulous 40th Reunion will be held on June 1 - June 4th in Dod Courtyard. Please register early! You’ll get a bit of a price break, and we’ll get a better estimate of headcount. Online registration at the class website begins on October 1. In the meantime, please make sure that you can log on to the Class website www.princeton77.org for access to all the Reunion information that you’ll want to know. Our Class Technology Chair Dave Pomerantz has provided this brief explanation of how it works: Login to the Class Website Now Before you can register online for Reunions, you must have a login at the Class website. Getting a login doesn’t commit you to going to Reunions and since it takes several days to process website registration, you might as well get your login now while you’re thinking about it. How to Login at Our Class Website You’ll first need to sign up with TigerNet before you can create a login at our Class website. This dual login is required by the University to protect your privacy. Use this same procedure if have a website login but can’t remember your password. • Verify your TigerNet login at http://tigernet.princeton.edu. If you don’t have a TigerNet login, create one. It’s easy! • Go to the class website at http://www.princeton77.org. In the Login box on the left, beneath the Login button, click First-time sign up.

Enter your name and email address exactly as it’s recorded with TigerNet. Our Class website will by matched with your last name and email address on TigerNet. If you just signed-up or changed your email with TigerNet, several days may pass for the two sites to synchronize.

If you have trouble with any part of this process, email Dave Pomerantz at [email protected], or call Reunion Technologies at (609) 924-0925 during regular business hours or email [email protected]. How to Register for Reunions Reunion registration begins on Oct 1, 2016. • Go to the Class website at http://www.princeton77.org. • Login to the website with the username and password you set up above. • Under the Reunions menu at the top left, select Register for the 40th Reunion. • Click the Register Now button at the bottom. • Choose the type of ticket you want to buy and follow the instructions to register and pay. REUNIONS: LODGING Russ Malta is again handling housing for our Reunion. We have secured blocks of rooms at several properties. If you have suggestions on possible topics for a panel or would like to be considered as a possible panelist on a particular topic, please let Peter Sismondo know, [email protected]. REUNIONS: SPECIAL PROGRAMS

On Thursday afternoon, we are planning a tour of the Princeton Battlefield. Rand Mirante ’70 will provide us with commentary surrounding the historical battle which was a turning point in the Revolutionary War. Sign up for this event will also be on our Class website. On Friday, at 1pm we will hold a special memorial service in the Chapel to remember Classmates that we have lost since our 35th Reunion. On Saturday, a panel of ’77 Doctors will speak on the latest developments in their medical fields. As always the fireworks will explode on Saturday night and of course, the P-rade will step off at 2pm on Saturday afternoon. REUNIONS: FOOD SERVICE Our food service will begin on Thursday evening with cocktails at the tent followed by dinner. On Friday and Saturday we will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We hope to reserve Frick Labs for our Friday class dinner - inside and air conditioned. Details to follow. REUNIONS: MUSIC FOR OUR LISTENING (and dancing) PLEASURE We have three nights of entertainment planned. The Donner Groove Band on Thursday, the Dena Miller Band on Friday and the Sensational Soul Cruisers on Saturday. OTHER NEWS: ANNUAL GIVING Thanks to our Class Agent Peter Angelica and his AG team, we had great results from last year's Annual Giving campaign. 490 classmates along with parents and friends donated a total of $416,972. For our 40th, we are looking to have even more classmates participate as a fitting celebration for what Princeton has meant in our lives and the role it will continue to play. We are planning on mailings to everyone in the near future, and at least one telethon in NYC this fall. Please consider making your gift early in the year to lighten the load on our Annual Giving volunteers as we approach Reunions - - and get yourself off the call list! You can even make it now via credit card by either going online to www.princeton.edu/ag or calling the 24-hr hotline 800-258-5421. OFFICIAL CLASS FACEBOOK PAGE More than 200 Classmates are on our new Official Class of 1977 Facebook Page. Find us on Facebook by searching Princeton Class of ’77, and join the discussion! COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT Once again, we will partner with David Behring's Wheelchair Foundation and Henry Posner's Railroad Development Corporation to distribute wheelchairs and bring mobility to Peru. We will travel from sea level to over 15,000 feet for our class's 4th wheelchair trip from July 30, 2017 to August 7, 2017. Please reserve that week (dates subject to minor adjustment) for you and your family to join other classmates in an unforgettable experience of service and bonding. I encourage you to participate in this unique endeavor. We may even get to meet Peru’s new President, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski ’61. We are also interested in how classmates are volunteering in their local communities. So if you are serving, or know of a classmate who is serving locally, please let us know so that we can highlight it on our class website and Princeton University Class of 1977 Community Service Page on Facebook. Yes, that's right. We have started a Facebook page devoted solely to the community service that we do as a class and as individuals. Currently we are looking for stories, photos and reminiscences about our first service project as a class, the home we built and donated for our 20th reunion in 1997.

Please contact Bill Farrell at [email protected] to learn more about the service trip and how you can contribute to it, to tell us about our classmates' individual efforts, including yours, and to sign up for the '77 service page on Facebook. CLASS EVENTS Our Homecoming Brunch with neighboring classes will be in Princeton on Saturday, October 22nd before the Harvard game. More details will follow, but save the date! Our Alumni Day dinner party with the Class of ’76 will be on Saturday, February 25th. Details to follow, but save the dates! Our October 1st baseball game event in Philadelphia – Mets v. Phillies is fully subscribed. Thank you Cackie Buck! Let John Nealon at [email protected] know if you’d like to be added to the waiting list. Check your email for invitations to upcoming Class of ’77 cocktail parties and dinner parties in the New York area. We’re trying to arrange regional gatherings in Atlanta, Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, Connecticut, Westchester and Florida. Let John know if you’d like to help - or host a Class gathering your city. Lastly, please take a moment to pay your Class Dues. They are tax-deductible, and if you pay your dues now, you won’t receive reminders until this time next year! You can either mail a check in the enclosed envelope or, if you prefer, you can pay your dues online at http://www.princeton77.org/dues.asp.

"In each Princeton century there are ten Classes fortunate enough to bear Seven, a number which for all times has been full of mystic and historic significance; but to only one Class in a century is it given to inscribe double Seven on its banner." -From the Foreword to Fifty Years of Princeton ‘77 (1877)
