Preface Since the foundation of the Radiation Physics Division of the Mexican Physics Society (SMF), 14 years ago, the academic activities have increased including various topics of the Radiation Physics field, such as particle accelerators, nuclear reactors, radiation protection, dosimetry, radiation effects in materials, indoor radon, environmental radiation, and effects in public health, among others. The annual International Symposium on Radiation Physics has become a tradition, traveling around the country, giving to the state universities the opportunity to promote scientific topics in this field, always in the benefit and projection of the Radiation Physics in our country, with the participation of international speakers, leaders in their respective topics, and students who run their training in this direction. Each academic event has been very successful, leaving a permanent and solid footprint for the development of Radiation Physics. Along these 14 years, the contributions to the Radiation Physics meeting were published as: a Book edited by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, later on the Revista Mexicana de Fisica as special issues, and afterwards in the AIP Conference Proceedings. And this time, the papers will be published in the very prestigious, Journal of Nuclear Physics, Material Sciences, Radiation and Applications, (The Physics Journal of Chitkara University, India), thus fulfilling the aim of bringing these works to the International Scientific Community.

Note from the Editor As an improvement, the Journal of Nuclear Physics, Material Sciences, Radiation and Applications classifies its articles as: Research in Nuclear Physics, Instrumentation, Material Sciences, Radiation and Applications. Nonetheless every once in a while, we include special section that may be of special interest to our readers. We have one such special section in this special issue of the journal, which can be titled as ‘Radiation Physics’. Our Associate Editor, Prof Guillermo C. Espinosa explains it bellow that, the manuscripts’ material was presented in the “XII International Symposium on Radiation Physics”. All the papers went through the review process by specialized, independent, anonymous referees and fulfilled the requirements that are required for a paper to be published in the Journal of Nuclear Physics, Material Sciences, Radiation and Applications. Dr Sushil Kumar Editor

Note from the Associate Editor The material in this special issue with topics on ‘Radiation Physics’ was presented during the “XII International Symposium on Radiation Physics” which was held in the Carolino building of the Benemerita Universidad Autonoma de Puebla, Puebla, Mexico, from 6 to 8 April, 2016. The Symposium covered a wide variety of Radiation Physics topics as Environmental Radiation, Interaction of the Radiation with the Matter, Radiochemistry, Instrumentation, and Radiobiology, among others, both Experimental as Fundamental Physics.
